Morley Railway Station, Perth
Morley railway station is a bus and railway station under construction as part of the Metronet Morley–Ellenbrook Line, serving the Perth suburbs of Bayswater, Embleton and Morley. It is to be built in the median strip of Tonkin Highway at Broun Avenue. History A passenger railway through Morley, branching from the Midland line at Bayswater, was included in the 1955 Stephenson-Hepburn Report. However, the government did not incorporate it into the Metropolitan Region Scheme derived from the report when it was adopted in 1963. A railway station at Morley was later proposed in the lead up to the 2013 election by the opposition Labor Party as part of their Metronet scheme. The station, which would have been served by the plan's Ellenbrook, Wanneroo, and Northern Circle lines, would have been located in Tonkin Highway near Walter Road. Tonkin Highway
Tonkin Highway is an north–south highway and partial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Perth Airport and Kewdale with the city's north-eastern and south-eastern suburbs. As of April 2020, the northern terminus is at the interchange with Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway in Muchea, and the southern terminus is at Thomas Road in Oakford. It forms the entire length of State Route 4, and connects to several major roads. Besides Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway, it also connects to Reid Highway, Great Eastern Highway, Leach Highway, Roe Highway, and Albany Highway. Planning for the route began in the 1950s, but the first segment between Wattle Grove and Cloverdale was not opened until 1980. Wanneroo
Wanneroo is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Geography As it is on the Swan Coastal Plain, the Wanneroo wetlands stretch parallel to the coastline and to the north and south of the suburb. Morley–Ellenbrook Line
The Morley–Ellenbrook line is a planned suburban rail service between the Perth central business district and Ellenbrook in Western Australia. Construction began in 2021 as part of Metronet. Ellenbrook Railway Station, Perth
Ellenbrook railway station is a proposed bus and railway station for the Transperth network. Construction began in January 2022, and is expected to open in 2024 as the terminus of the Morley–Ellenbrook railway line, serving the Perth suburb of Ellenbrook, Western Australia. Station design Ellenbrook station will feature a island platform, half of which will be sheltered. There will be two car parks either side of the station, with a total of 500 car bays. A dedicated bus interchange with 12 bus stands will be constructed as well, providing feeder bus services to nearby suburbs. Other services to be provided at the station are toilets and a kiosk. The station is deliberately going to be built slightly outside the railway alignment so that when the government wants to extend the railway line, a new station can be constructed at Ellenbrook whilst the old one is still in use. Transperth
Transperth is the brand name of the public transport system serving the city and suburban areas of Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. It is located on the Mandurah line, from Perth station inside the median strip of the Kwinana Freeway serving the suburb of Murdoch. History Murdoch railway station was designed to subsume the existing Murdoch Park 'n' Ride bus station located on the same site. The Park 'n' Ride was closed on 31 January 2007 to facilitate construction of the railway station. 2017 Western Australian State Election
The 2017 Western Australian state election was held on Saturday 11 March 2017 to elect members to the Parliament of Western Australia, including all 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly and all 36 seats in the Legislative Council. The eight-and-a-half-year two-term incumbent Liberal– WA National government, led by Premier Colin Barnett, was defeated in a landslide by the Labor opposition, led by Opposition Leader Mark McGowan.
