Morits Skaugen Jr. (born 17 December 1955) is a Norwegian businessperson. In 1988 his father and uncle managed to buy the company A/S Kosmos and merge it into their family company Eikland. Skaugen received control over the family company I. M. Skaugen in 1990, whereas his cousin Brynjulf Skaugen Jr. was given control over a new branch named B. Skaugen. He is now the CEO of I. M. Skaugen. He is married to Grace Reksten Skaugen. A/S Kosmos
A/S Kosmos was a shipping and industrial company from Sandefjord. It was founded in 1928 by Anders Jahre, Svend Foyn Bruun, Sr. and Anton Barth von der Lippe as Hvalfangstselskapet Kosmos A/S. In 1949 Hvalfangstselskapet Kosmos A/S (A/S Kosmos) and its sister company Hvalfangstselskapet Kosmos II A/S (A/S Kosmos II) were fused to make the company A/S Kosmos. In 1986, the brothers Arne and Wilhelm Blystad sought to take control of the company, without luck. Hilmar August Reksten (29 October 1897 – 1 July 1980) was a Norwegian shipping magnate. In the autumn of 1973 he was counted among the world's richest men, possessing a fleet worth about £300,000,000. At his death in 1980, all was lost; he left behind a debt of about £100,000,000. Background Hilmar Reksten grew up in a small flat at Nordnes, a central quarter of Bergen. Isak Martinius Skaugen
Isak Martinius Skaugen (17 August 1875 – 26 December 1962), was a Norway, Norwegian businessperson. He was a sea captain by profession. In 1916 in Risør he founded the shipping company which still exists under the name I. M. Skaugen. His sons Sigurd, Brynjulf Skaugen, Sr., Brynjulf and Morits Skaugen, Sr., Morits were taken on board as partners in 1952, and the brothers (Sigurd died in 1975) later controlled the company. The company was passed on to the third generation represented by Morits Skaugen, Jr. and Brynjulf Skaugen, Jr., and split in two, in 1990. Morits Skaugen
Morits Skaugen Sr. (27 June 1920 – 17 January 2005) was a Norwegian yacht racer and businessperson. He was born in Risør, but as a sailor he represented the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club in Oslo. He competed as a sailor in the Summer Olympics in 1948, 1952 and 1964. Skaugen was a son of Isak Martinius Skaugen, and worked for his father's company I. M. Skaugen from 1947. Together with his brothers Sigurd and Brynjulf he was taken on board as partners in 1952, and the brothers later controlled the family company. For about twenty years they also co-owned Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. He retired in 1990. In that year, I. M. Skaugen was taken over by Morits Skaugen Jr., and a branch named B.
