Morgane (singer)
Morgane (born Ingrid Simonis; 23 August 1975, in Blegny) is a Belgian singer, best known for her participation in the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest. Eurovision Song Contest On 8 March 1992, Morgane's song " Nous, on veut des violons" ("We Want Violins") was chosen from ten entrants as Belgium's representative in the 37th Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 9 May in Malmö, Sweden. "Nous, on veut des violons" proved unsuccessful at the contest, finishing in 20th place of 23 entries, having received points from only four other countries. Later career After Eurovision, Morgane released several more records and made frequent television appearances, before falling out of view in the mid-1990s. She continued her involvement in music, albeit not in the public eye, and became a mother of three children. Barbara Dex
Barbara Maria Karel Deckx (born 22 January 1974), better known by her stage name Barbara Dex, is a Belgian singer who represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 with the song "Iemand als jij". Dex had qualified via the Belgian national heat, Eurosong 93, held at the Casino Knokke on 6 March. At the Eurovision in Millstreet, she performed seventh, after Greece's entry " Ellada, Hora Tou Fotos" and before Malta's song " This Time". Dex came last, in 25th place. Barbara returned to the Belgian final in 2004, teaming up with Alides for the song "One Life" which placed third. A further Eurovision attempt came in 2006 with the country line-dancing flavoured "Crazy" which earned her fifth place. Barbara Dex was born in Turnhout, one of the three children of Marcel Deckx, a Belgian singer better known by his stage name Marc Dex. Belgium was represented by Barbara Dex at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, which took place in Millstreet, Ireland, performing "Iemand als jij". Dex was the winner of the Flemish national final for the contest, ''Eurosong '93''. Before Eurovision Eurosong '93 Flemish broadcaster Belgische Radio- en Televisieomroep Nederlandstalige Uitzendingen (BRTN) was in charge of preparations for the Belgian entry for the 1993 Contest. Belgium was represented by the band Clouseau, with the song "Geef het op", at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Rome on 4 May. Before Eurovision National final Clouseau were chosen internally by broadcaster BRTN to be that year's Belgian representatives. On 9 March 1991, during a live broadcast called ''Euro-Clouseau'' hosted by Jessica de Caluwe from the Casino Cursaal in Ostend, Clouseau performed a number of songs, three of which ("Geef het op", "Hilda" and "Ik kan zonder jou") were new. The band made their own choice from the three songs and announced "Geef het op" as the song they would perform in Rome. At Eurovision On the night of the final Clouseau performed 18th in the running order, following Germany and preceding Spain. Clouseau (band)
Clouseau is a Belgian pop music, pop group, having success in Belgium and the Netherlands since being established in the late 1980s. Apart from a brush with English material in the early 1990s they perform in Dutch language, Dutch. Their biggest hits are "Daar gaat ze" ("There she goes", a #1 hit in the Netherlands in 1990, and rerecorded in English as "Close Encounters") and "Passie" ("Passion", a #1 hit in the Netherlands in 1995). History 1987–1990 Clouseau was set up by Bob Savenberg, who named the band after Inspector Clouseau, a character he enjoyed imitating and after whom he had named his radio station. Initially, Clouseau only performed at local venues. Singer Koen Wauters soon left the group to sing for another local band, but in 1987 he was persuaded to return.
