Morgan Lewis (basketball)
Morgan Lewis (born February 10, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Cape Breton Highlanders of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada). He was a two-time NBL Canada All-Star in his years with the Mississauga Power. College career Before playing professionally, Lewis led NCAA University of Findlay to a perfect record going 36-0 en route to win the NCAA Division 2 Championship in 2009. During that year, Lewis was awarded the National Tournament MVP, NCAA National All Tournament Team and NCAA Regional All Tournament Team. Alex "Superman" Johnson (born January 18, 1988) is a Canadian professional basketball player who is currently a member of the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada He played college basketball at Cal State Bakersfield and then NC State. Johnson attended high school at Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto, Ontario. As a professional, he was named an NBL Canada All-Star with the Mississauga Power. Johnson was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2013 NBL Canada draft by the Ottawa SkyHawks. National Basketball League (Canada)
The National Basketball League was a professional basketball league based in Canada that lasted only one and a half seasons in 1993 and 1994. It rose from the ashes of the World Basketball League which folded after the 1992 season, which had teams in various Canadian and American cities. The NBL's first game was played on May 1, 1993 when the Cape Breton Breakers visited the Halifax Windjammers. The Breakers won the regular season championship with a 30-16 record, but they lost the championship finals to Saskatoon three games to one. During the 1994 season there were rumours that the Cape Breton team was going to move to Saint John in mid-season, which never happened before the league folded on July 9, 1994. Halifax, which finished last in 1993, was in first place at the time the league had folded. The league's president was Sam Katz and the commissioner was Tom Nissalke.
