Moratalla
Moratalla is a small town and the center of a large municipality of the same name in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia in southeastern Spain. In 2018, the population of Moratalla was 7,944: some 5,600 in the town of Moratalla itself and the rest in districts such as Otos, Benizar, El Sabinar or Casa Requena. Its main economic resources are tourism and agriculture (apricots, almonds, olives and olive oil, wood, barley). Geography It is chiefly a mountainous and comparatively cool territory (with regard to the region), snow being frequent in the highest zones (Revolcadores, ) and cold valleys (Campo de San Juan, El Sabinar). It is crossed by minor rivers (Alhárabe, Benamor) which flow into the Segura. There is a main reservoir of the Segura at El Cenajo. Cañada De La Cruz
Cañada de la Cruz is a small village of Spain, belonging to the municipality of Moratalla, in the Region of Murcia. It lies at metres above sea level, on the southern foothills of ''Los Revolcadores'' (2,027 m), part of the ''Sierra de Moratalla'' mountain range. To the north of the settlement there is a site displaying cave art paintings. As late as the 1420s (battle of ''Puerto del Conejo''), skirmishes took between Castile and Granada following the break of the truces place in the area. By the late 2010s, Cañada de la Cruz had a population of about 150 in the Winter (reportedly increasing tenfold in the Summer). Segura
Segura (, ; la, Thader; ar, شقورة, Shaqūrah, or ) is a medium-sized river in southeastern Spain. It has its source in the Sierra de Segura. Course The river begins at Santiago Pontones ( province of Jaén), passes Calasparra, Cieza, Blanca, Murcia, Beniaján (Region of Murcia), , Orihuela, Rojales and flows into the Mediterranean Sea near Guardamar del Segura in the province of Alicante. Mula, Spain
Mula is a municipality of Spain belonging to the Region of Murcia. It is located in southeastern Iberia. It has a total area of 633.84 km2 and, as of 1 January 2020, a registered population of 17,021. It is best known for the ''tamboradas'' (drumming processions) held during the Holy Week. Short-toed Eagle
The short-toed snake eagle (''Circaetus gallicus''), also known as the short-toed eagle, is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as kites, buzzards and harriers. The genus name ''Circaetus'' is from the Ancient Greek ''kirkos'', a type of hawk, and ''aetos'', "eagle". The specific ''gallicus'' means "of Gallia". Taxonomy The short-toed snake eagle was formally described in 1788 by the German naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in his revised and expanded edition of Carl Linnaeus's ''Systema Naturae''. He placed it with the falcons, eagles and their relatives in the genus '' Falco'' and coined the binomial name ''Falco gallicus''. Tobarra
Tobarra is a municipality in the province of Albacete in Spain, with a population of c. 8,000 as of 2009. The area is famous for its "Moniquí" variety of apricots, its drum processions (''tamboradas'') and its Holy Week observances, declared by the government to be of National Tourist Interest. It has a "Dolorosa" sculpture by Francisco Salzillo and an articulated statue of Jesus that gives the blessing on Good Friday on a local hilltop designated Mount Calvary, before a congregation normally numbering some 30,000. Hellín is a city and Municipalities in Spain, municipality of Spain located in the province of Albacete, Castilla–La Mancha. The municipality spans across a total area of 781.66 km2.
