Morea
The Morea ( el, Μορέας or ) was the name of the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece during the Middle Ages and the early modern period. The name was used for the Byzantine province known as the Despotate of the Morea, by the Ottoman Empire for the Morea Eyalet, and later by the Republic of Venice for the short-lived Kingdom of the Morea. Etymology There is some uncertainty over the origin of the medieval name "Morea", which is first recorded only in the 10th century in the Byzantine chronicles. Christos "Chris" Moraitis, (born 1962) is a senior Australian public servant, serving as Director-General of the Office of the Special Investigator. Life and career Moraitis was born in Melbourne in 1962. He joined the Australian Public Service in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1989 as a Graduate Trainee. Moriatis was Senior Legal Adviser in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from November 2002 to December 2006, Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea from 2006 to 2009 and, in April 2013, he was appointed a Deputy Secretary at Foreign Affairs and Trade. Moraitis Jr. (born October 29, 1970) is a Republican politician and a former member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 93rd District, which stretches from Boca Raton to Hollywood in eastern Broward County, from 2012 to 2018.
