Mooselookmeguntic Lake is located in Franklin County and Oxford County, Maine, in the United States. It is part of the Androscoggin River watershed. It is located in the western part of Maine, near the border with the state of New Hampshire and the Canadian province of Quebec. The lake is just a few miles from the Appalachian Trail. Stephen Phillips Memorial Preserve
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Preserve is land and islands on Mooselookmeguntic Lake, Maine. Extending over 6,000 acres, it is one of the largest protected wilderness areas in the state. The Preserve was created in 1963 as a means of protecting the natural beauty of the land, while maintaining accessibility to the public. There is wilderness camping on the east and west shores of the lake, Student's Island, Toothaker Island, Shelter Island, Farrington Island, and Griffin Island. Each campsite has a tent pad and access to an outhouse. There are approximately 60 campsites at the Preserve. Toothaker Island is the largest island on the lake, and has six campsites. Upper Richardson Lake
Upper Richardson Lake and Lower Richardson Lake are impounded as a single reservoir by Middle Dam at the outlet to Rapid River on the western shore of the lower lake. Rapid River flows to Umbagog Lake headwaters of the Androscoggin River. Upper Richardson Lake is in the western portion of Richardsontown township, and the lower lake is on the border of Magalloway Plantation and Maine Township C. Primary inflow is discharge over Upper Dam on Mooselookmeguntic Lake on the eastern shore of the upper lake. Smaller tributaries entering the north end of the upper lake include Mill Brook draining the Richardson Ponds, Fish Brook draining Fish Pond, and Beaver Brook draining Beaver Pond, Little Beaver Pond, and Aziscohos Pond. The Kennebago River is a river in northwestern part of the U.S. state of Maine. It is a tributary of Cupsuptic Lake, an arm of Mooselookmeguntic Lake. Abnaki Language
Abenaki (''Eastern: Alənαpαtəwéwαkan, Western: Alnôbaôdwawôgan'') is an endangered Algonquian language of Quebec and the northern states of New England. The language has Eastern and Western forms which differ in vocabulary and phonology and are sometimes considered distinct languages. Eastern Abenaki languages are spoken by several peoples, including the Miꞌkmaq, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot of coastal Maine. The last known natively fluent speaker of Penobscot, Madeline Shay, died in 1993. State Route 17 (abbreviated SR 17) is part of Maine's system of numbered state highways, located in the south central part of the state. It is a major regional route running for from an intersection with State Route 4 in Oquossoc to an intersection with U.S. Route 1 and U.S. Route 1A in Rockland.
