Tom Moores (politician)
Thomas Moores (1 July 1903 – 15 July 1983) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Moores was born in Gympie, Queensland, the son of John Thomas Moores and his wife Lucy (née Robinson). He was educated at One Mile State School in Gympie and then attended Brisbane Industrial High School. He worked as a manual training teacher at West End, South Brisbane and Dutton Park Opportunity state schools. In 1935-36 he went to England where he worked as a plumber and then served in the Australian Army from 1942 to 1945. On 2 September 1944 Moores married Monica Annie Lovelock and together had one daughter. He died in Brisbane in July 1983. Public career Moores was the alderman for the Kurilpa ward in the Brisbane City Council from 1939 until 1949. Thomas James Moores (born 4 September 1996) is an English cricketer who plays for Nottinghamshire. He is a left-handed batsman who also plays as a wicket-keeper. Ted Moores (born June 25, 1943) is a Canadian boat builder, author, and educator. His book ''Canoecraft'' has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. Moores is best known for duplicating a method of building canoes first developed in Minnesota by Irvin C. Peterson, Karl Ketter, and Eugene B. Jensen using woodstrip epoxy techniques, a style well-suited to the home builder. By applying thin layers of fibreglass to either side of a wooden hull, Moores' canoes employ the principles of core-composite construction in a design that is both durable and lighter than traditional rib-and-plank construction. Peter Moores (born 18 December 1962) is an English former first class cricketer who was the head coach of the men's England cricket team. Moores played as a wicketkeeper for Worcestershire and Sussex and captained Sussex in 1997. He retired from playing first-class cricket in 1998 and became the coach of Lancashire County Cricket Club, on 11 February 2009. Moores was a successful coach of Sussex leading the county to the 2003 County Championship. Moores coached England "A" on their tour of the West Indies in 2000–01 and the English National Cricket Academy from October 2005 to 2007. Sir Peter Moores (9 April 1932 – 23 March 2016) was a British businessman, art collector and philanthropist who was chairman of the Liverpool-based Littlewoods football pools and retailing business in the United Kingdom between 1977 and 1980.
