Moonzund (film)
''Moonzund'' (russian: Моонзунд) is a 1988 Soviet war film based on Valentin Pikul's 1970 novel of the same name. "Moonzund" refers to the West Estonian archipelago, where the Battle of Moon Sound took place during World War I. Plot Epic film set during the First World War brightly illustrates the struggles of Russian Empire in the years 1915–1917. The hardships of war cause major social and political unrest in the Tsarist Russia. Communist propaganda provokes conflicts between classes causing clashes and un-subordination aboard battleships of Russian Imperial Navy and on locations in Tallinn, Kronstadt and Saint Petersburg. Torn by internal class struggle, Russian Navy is weakened and loses major battles in the Baltic theater of war. Against this background, the commanding admirals of the Russian Navy are powerless witnesses of the tragic collapse of the fleet in terms of nascent revolutionary events of 1917. Vladimir Arkadievich Yeryomin (russian: Владимир Аркадьевич Ерёмин; born September 6, 1950) is a Soviet and Russian actor, screenwriter and producer. Member of the Cinematographers' Union and the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation. Biography Yeryomin was born on September 6, 1950 in the village of Muromtsevo, Omsk Oblast. In 1957-1967 he studied at the school in Pavlodar (Kazakhstan). Parents of the future actor had no relationship to the theater and cinema, but as a child, Vladimir became interested in circus and theater. Pavel Efimovich Dybenko (russian: Павел Ефимович Дыбенко), (February 16, 1889 – July 29, 1938) was a Bolshevik revolutionary and a leading Soviet officer and military commander. Prior to military service Pavel Dybenko was born in Lyudkovo village, Novozybkov ''uyezd'', Chernigov '' guberniya'', Imperial Russia (now Novozybkov, Bryansk Oblast, Russia) into a Ukrainian peasant family. In 1907 he started working in the local Treasury department, but was fired as "untrustworthy" due to his political activities. Vija Artmane (born Alīda Artmane; 21 August 1929 in Kaive, Sēme Parish – 11 October 2008 in Strenči) was a Latvian theatre and cinema actress. Life and career Childhood Vija Artmane was born Alīda Artmane at the time when Latvia was a sovereign nation. Her father, Fricis Arnolds Artmanis, of partial Baltic German ancestry, died in an accident aged 19, just four months before she was born. Her mother Anna Regīna Zaborska, of Polish heritage, survived as a single mother by doing seasonal agricultural jobs.
