History The locality takes its name from the former Moongan railway station () on the former Dawson Valley railway line. It is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning ''top of hill''. The section of the railway line from Moonmera railway station to Mount Morgan opened on 26 November 1898. The section beween Moonmera and Moongan involves a steep climb up the Razorback Range with a gradient too steep for a steam locomotive, so an Abt rack engine was additionally used on this section. Mount Morgan State High School is a heritage-listed state high school and technical college at 4 Central Street, Mount Morgan, Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 1908. It was formerly known as Mount Morgan Technical College. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 4 December 2015. History Mount Morgan State High School was established in the central Queensland mining town of Mount Morgan in 1912, as one of Queensland's first secondary schools. It commenced operating on the Mount Morgan Technical College site, which the two institutions shared until 1964. Geography Bouldercombe is in Central Queensland. The town is on the Burnett Highway, north west of the state capital, Brisbane and south of the regional centre of Rockhampton. The Dawson Valley Branch Railway was a railway line in Central Queensland, Australia. It branched from the Central Western railway line at Kabra in the Rockhampton Region and went via Mount Morgan to Theodore in the Shire of Banana. It opened in a series of sections between 1898 and 1927, and featured a rack railway section, one of only 3 such systems in Australia. The Mount Morgan Gold Mining Company was authorised by government in 1890 to build a railway link to Rockhampton but it did not proceed.
