Moomba Festival
Moomba (also known as the Moomba Festival) is held annually in Melbourne, Australia. Run by the City of Melbourne, it is Australia's largest free community festival. The Melburnian tradition is celebrated over four days, incorporating the Labour Day long weekend, from Friday to the second Monday in March. Moomba is culturally important to Melbourne, having been celebrated since 1955, and regularly attracts up to a million people, with a record attendance of 3.8 million (2.3 million tourists) set in 2018. In 2003, the event was renamed ''Melbourne Moomba Waterfest'' and is centred on the Yarra River. Traditional events include the Moomba parade, crowning of Moomba monarchs, fireworks displays, carnivals in the gardens along the river, river activities including watersports, water floats and the Birdman Rally, as well as live music and bands. Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding is a water sport in which the rider, standing on a wakeboard (a board with foot bindings), is towed behind a motorboat across its wake and especially up off the crest in order to perform aerial maneuvers. A hallmark of wakeboarding is the attempted performance of midair tricks. Wakeboarding was developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques. The rider is usually towed by a rope behind a boat, but can also be towed by cable systems and winches, and be pulled by other motorized vehicles like personal watercraft, cars, trucks, and all-terrain vehicles. The gear and wakeboard boat used are often personalized to each rider's liking. Whitney McClintock-Rini
Whitney McClintock (born October 2, 1989) is a Canadian water skier. She is a five time world champion. McClintock has also won thirteen Pan American Games medals (four gold and ten silver). Early life McClintock was born October 2, 1989 in Cambridge, Ontario. Career World Championships McClintock has won multiple World Championships medals. In 2009 McClintock won four gold medals, in 2011 McClintock won a single gold and followed that up with two silvers in 2013. Thomas Degasperi (born 18 January 1981) is an Italian professional water skier. He has won two World Championships, one Masters title, three Moomba masters titles, the Malibu open twice, the World Games, the European championships eight times, the Canadian open, the Ski West Pro, the New Zealand Pro Am twice, the Atalanta Pro Am twice, the Mexico Pro Am, the Global Invitations pro, the Alizee cup, the San Gervasio Pro Am the Botas Pro Am and many more for a total of over 28 pro titles and over 60 pro podiums. Nate Smith (born November 29, 1990) is an American professional waterskier. Skiing professionally since 2010, Smith is the current slalom world record holder, setting the record on May 14, 2017. Jacinta Carroll
Jacinta Carroll is a former professional water skier, five-time World Record holder, and five-time World Champion. Carroll was the first woman to jump 200 feet, with a 201 foot jump (61.3 m) at the 2021 MasterCraft Pro in Polk City, Florida. In addition to being the first woman to clear the 200' barrier, Carroll became the first woman to jump over 60 meters with a 60.3 meter jump at the Ski Fluid Invitational on September 26, 2016. Carroll did not loose a professional event in which she has competed since coming second at the 2013 Moomba Masters. Competing professionally between 1983 and 2005, Overton Johnson accumulated 80 pro victories.
