Kastoria Monuments Museum ( el, Μουσείο Μνημείων Καστοριάς) is a private museum that displays scale models of the monuments of Kastoria, Greece. It is located on the ground floor of an apartment building on the shore of Kastoria lake. History For many years, Nikos Pistikos devoted his free time to making scale models of the monuments of Kastoria out of a variety of materials, having first carried out on-the-spot investigations, taken measurements so that his models would be to scale, and photographed each building so that he could reproduce its distinctive features and details.Museums of Macedonia Out of love for art and for the city of Kastoria, Pistikos began to display his work to the public in 1991, at 89 Megalou Alexandrou Street. Kastoria Lake
Lake Orestiada or Lake of Kastoria ( el, Λίμνη Ορεστιάδα) is a lake in the Kastoria regional unit of Macedonia, northwestern Greece. Sitting at an altitude of 630 metres, the lake covers an area of 28 square kilometres. Nine rivulets flow into the lake, and it drains into the Haliacmon river. Its depth varies from nine to ten metres. Dispilio
Dispilio ( el, Δισπηλιό) is a village near Lake Orestiada, in the Kastoria regional unit of Western Macedonia, Greece. Near the village is an archaeological site containing remains of a Neolithic lakeshore settlement that occupied an artificial island. History The lake settlement was discovered during the dry winter of 1932, which lowered the lake level and revealed traces of the settlement. A preliminary survey was made in 1935 by Antonios Keramopoulos. Excavations began in 1992, led by George Chourmouziadis, professor of prehistoric archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The site's paleoenvironment, botany, fishing techniques, tools and ceramics were published informally in the June 2000 issue of , a Greek archaeology magazine and by Chourmouziadis in 2002. Byzantine Museum Of Kastoria
The Byzantine Museum of Kastoria is a museum in Kastoria, Macedonia, Greece, dedicated to religious art from the area's late Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods. Description The museum stands at the highest point of the city, in Dexamenis Square (''Platia Dexamenis''), next to the Monuments Museum. It has been open since 1989. It has a collection of some 700 icons from the city's 75 Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches, and almost all of them have been restored and cleaned by the museum's conservators. Of this large collection, 35 icons are on permanent display.
