Monument To Rashid Behbudov
The Monument to Rashid Behbudov ( az, Rəşid Behbudovun heykəli) is a monument to the Azerbaijani singer Rashid Behbudov. It is located in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on Rashid Behbudov Street, in the front of the State Theatre of Song named in Rashid Behbudov's honour. The Azerbaijan National Library is located on the opposite side of Rashid Behbudov Street. Rashid Behbudov
Rashid Behbudov ( az, Rəşid Məcid oğlu Behbudov, Azerbaijani Cyrillic: Рашид Бейбутов; 14 December 1915 – 9 June 1989) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani singer and actor. Rashid Behbudov was born in Tbilisi in 1915. His father, Majid Behbudov, was a singer as well. In 1945, upon the invitation of Tofig Guliyev, Rashid Behbudov moved to Baku. In the same year, he was assigned the main role of Asgar in the film ''Arshin Mal Alan'' ('' The Cloth Peddler''), based on a play by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. His role in this film combined with his vocal skills brought him fame throughout Azerbaijan. In a short time, Behbudov became also prominent Azerbaijani pop singer. His combination of vocal masterpieces ranged from classical performances to lyrical songs. The Azerbaijan State Song Theatre named after Rashid Behbudov ( az, Rəşid Behbudov adına Dövlət Mahnı Teatrı) is located in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, on Rashid Behbudov Street, and is named after Rashid Behbudov, who founded it in 1968. The theatre building was originally built as a synagogue in 1901. It is in the Greek Revival style, with an Ionic order portico, and in the ornamented pediment there is a central lyre where a representation of the Tablets of Stone once featured. The Mirza Fatali Akhundov National Library of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijani: ''Mirzə Fətəli Axundov adına Azərbaycan Milli Kitabxanası'') is the national library of the Republic of Azerbaijan, located in Baku and founded in 1922. It is named after Mirza Fatali Akhundov, an Azerbaijani dramatist and philosopher. The library is located on Khagani Street and overlooks Rəşid Behbudov Avenue and Nizami Street. Its facades feature the statues of various writers and poets: Nizami Ganjavi, Mahsati, Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Shota Rustaveli, Alexander Pushkin and several others. Fuad Salayev
Fuad Salayev is an Azerbaijani sculptor. He was born in 1943. He graduated from Azerbaijan State Art School named after A. Azimzade and he goes on to Moscow and graduated from Surikov Moscow Art Institute. He was involved in many exhibitions of the Soviet Union, and he had a lot of creative projects with the Russian Academy of Arts. He created the monument of Sergei Yesenin which was his first major work. But the poet's monument in Russia at that time was not raised yet. He is also the vice-rector of the Academy of Arts now.
