Monument Circle Historic District is a national Historic district (United States), historic district located at Warsaw (village), New York, Warsaw in Wyoming County, New York. The district consists of and includes a broad range of architecturally significant resources. It encompasses 21 late 19th and early 20th century civic, religious, and domestic properties. Highlights include the Soldiers and Sailors Monument (1876–1877), Warsaw Public Library (1905), Augustus Frank House (1849-1850), Wyoming County Courthouse (1937), County Sheriff's Office and Jail (ca. 1901), and United Methodist Church (1901–1902). Warsaw is a town in Wyoming County, in the U.S. state of New York. The population was 5,064 at the 2010 census. It is located approximately 37 miles east southeast of Buffalo and approximately 37 miles southwest of Rochester. The town may have been named after Warsaw, Poland. The Town of Warsaw is centrally located in the county and contains a village, also called Warsaw. The village is the county seat of Wyoming County. History The Town of Warsaw was founded in 1803 from the Town of Batavia (in Genesee County). In 1812, part of Warsaw was used to form the new town of Town of Middlebury. Warsaw is a village in Wyoming County, New York, United States. It is the county seat of Wyoming County and lies inside the Town of Warsaw. The village of Warsaw is near the center of the town in a valley. The population was 3,473 at the 2010 census. A branch of Genesee Community College is in Warsaw. Wyoming County, New York
Wyoming County is a county in the U.S. state of New York in the state's western area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,531. The county seat is Warsaw. The name is modified from a Lenape (Delaware) Native American word meaning "broad bottom lands". Wyoming County was formed from Genesee County in 1841. Augustus Frank (July 17, 1826 – April 29, 1895) was an American merchant, railroad executive, banker and politician. He served as a United States representative from the U.S. state of New York (state), New York during the American Civil War.
