Montville is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Montville had a population of 970 people. Geography Montville is in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, on the Blackall Range, around above sea level in the town area. Maleny–Montville Road enters from the south, Montville–Mapleton Road exits to the north, and Woombye–Montville Road enters from the east. History The first white settlers arrived in the area in 1887. The town was originally called ''Razorback'', but was renamed following a community meeting. The name Montville was proposed by storekeeper Henry Smith (who bought a selection of land there in 1893) after a suggestion by his mother, as it reminded her of their early years in Montville, USA. Montville () is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in north-western France. On August 19, 1845, a violent F5 tornado hit Montville, killing 75. It travelled 15km with an average width of about 300 meters. Montville is a town in New London County, Connecticut in the United States. The population was 18,387 at the 2020 census. The villages of Chesterfield, Mohegan, Oakdale, and Uncasville are located within the town; the latter two have their own ZIP Codes. Town residents often identify with these villages more than the Town of Montville as a whole. The Mohegan Sun casino resort is located in the village of Uncasville. History In the 17th century, when English settlers arrived, southeastern Connecticut was the scene of rivalry between the Pequot people, the dominant Native American group in the New London area, and the newly independent Mohegan. The latter became friendly to the English. History Montville was incorporated on February 18, 1807, and was named for the French word for "mountain town". Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which, of it is land and is water. Principle bodies of water are Trues Pond (173 acres), Kingdom Bog (90 acres), Ledge Pond (24 acres) and Mud Pond (15 acres). The town is crossed by state routes SR 220 and SR 3. It borders the towns of Knox to the northeast, Morrill to the east, Searsmont to the southeast, Liberty to the southwest, Palermo to the west and Freedom to the northwest.
