Montreal Executive Committee
The Montreal Executive Committee (french: Comité exécutif de Montréal) is the executive branch of the municipal government of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The committee reports directly to city hall and is responsible for generating documents such as budgets and by-laws, which are then sent to the Montreal City Council for approval. As of 2017, the committee consists of the mayor of Montreal, twelve members, and five associate members. Benoit Dorais
Benoit Dorais is a city councillor from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has served as the borough mayor of Le Sud-Ouest since 2009. From his first election to 2013, Dorais was a member of Vision Montreal, before joining Coalition Montréal in 2013 and Projet Montréal prior to the 2017 municipal election. Dorais was born and raised in the Saint-Henri neighbourhood. Prior to his election as city councillor, Dorais served as a political staff member to former Bloc Québécois MP Thierry St-Cyr. He has also served as a commissioner with the Commission scolaire de Montréal since 2007. He holds a university degree in philosophy and social ethics. Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is a Montreal borough, borough of Montreal, Montreal, Quebec, Canada located in the southeastern end of the island. Éric Alan Caldwell is a politician in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has served on the Montreal city council since 2013, representing the Hochelaga division as a member of Projet Montréal. In November 2017, he was appointed to the Montreal executive committee (i.e., the municipal cabinet) by new mayor Valérie Plante. Ville-Marie is the name of a borough (''arrondissement'') in the centre of Montreal, Quebec. The borough is named after Fort Ville-Marie, the French settlement that would later become Montreal (now Old Montreal), which was located within the present-day borough. Côte-des-Neiges (, ) is a neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at the geographic centre of the Island of Montreal on the western slope of Mount Royal and is part of the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Magda Popeanu
Magda (Bîrsan) Popeanu (born May 20, 1956) is a Canadian politician. She was born in Târgoviște, Romania, and graduated from "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" High School in Iași. After getting a BA in Electronics Engineering from Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași in 1980 she worked in computer sciences. Popeanu was a 1989 Romanian revolutionary. She immigrated to Canada in 1992. She taught computer engineering for Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys for many years. Popeanu was a candidate for Projet Montréal in the 2005 and 2009 elections in Côte-des-Neiges district where she obtained 16% and 31.6% of the vote, respectively.
