Montreal Ukrainians (Sports Association Montreal Ukrainians, ua, СТ (Спортове Товариство) «Україна» (Монреаль), translit=ST (Sportove Tovarystvo) "Ukraina" (Monreal)) is a Canadian soccer team based in Montreal. The club was founded by Ukrainians that had settled in Montreal after the Second World War. History The club has had a very storied history, considering it was formed by such the Ukrainian diaspora group in 20 November 1949. The team primarily played in the Canadian National Soccer League, National Soccer League until 1964, although it spent the 1963 season in the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League. The National Soccer League was a soccer league in Canada that existed from 1926 to 1997. Teams were primarily based in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League was a soccer league in Canada. The league operated for six seasons from 1961 to 1966 across four cities in two Canadian provinces and one American state. In the 1960s, the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League was one of four major leagues in Canadian soccer alongside the Pacific Coast League, the Western Canada Soccer League, and the National Soccer League of Ontario/Quebec. The Challenge Trophy (french: Trophée Challenge) is a national amateur soccer cup in Canada contested by the champions of individual provincial soccer competitions. It is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, being held since 1913. It is run by the Canadian Soccer Association.
