Monterey High School (Monterey, California)
Monterey High School is a public high school in the western United States, located in Monterey, California. It is the oldest of the four high schools overseen by the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. History In 1905, Monterey High School was combined with Del Monte Technical School to form Monterey Union High School. The wooden three-story building was destroyed by fire and a new school building was constructed on the current site by 1915. The school serviced students from as far north as Castroville to as far south as Big Sur and all of Carmel Valley. The other two districts, Pacific Grove and Carmel, only serviced students within their small city limits. Proficiency statistics As of 2020, Monterey High school serves 1,306 students in grade levels 9 through 12. The mathematical proficiency level is 38%, which is lower than California's average of 39%. Monterey, Tennessee
Monterey is a town in Putnam County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,850 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cookeville, Tennessee Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Monterey is rooted in a settlement that developed around a landmark known as the "Standing Stone" in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The stone was as a guidepost for travelers along Avery's Trace, and is believed to have earlier served as a boundary marker between the territories of the Cherokee and Shawnee. By 1805, three families had settled permanently in area, and the Standing Stone Inn was established to cater to westward-bound migrants. In the Spring of 1864, during the Civil War, 200 Union soldiers led by Colonel William B. Stokes entered the Monterey area with orders to root out Confederate guerrilla activity. Monterey High School (Lubbock, Texas)
Monterey High School is a 5A high school located in central Lubbock, Texas, United States (Monterey High School became a 6A school at the beginning of the 2014–2015 academic year per the UIL realignment announcement of February 2012). Monterey is part of the Lubbock Independent School District. Established in 1955, Monterey was the third high school to be established in Lubbock, after Lubbock High School and Dunbar High School. Dunbar was later changed to a Junior High. The current city of Lubbock started from the merger of two separate communities, Old Lubbock and Monterey. In a compromise move, the residents of Old Lubbock relocated to Monterey but renamed the new community Lubbock; the high school name is in remembrance to Lubbock's past. Monterey High School, also known as Highland High School, Monterey Elementary School, Highland Elementary School, and Highland Center, is a historic school building located at Monterey, Highland County, Virginia. It was built in 1922, and is a one-story, hipped roof garnet sandstone structure in the Classical Revival-style. The three-bay facade consists of two side classroom wings with the central entry portico. It has a multiple hipped roof, symmetrical facade, and portico supported by Doric order columns.
