Monterey Amberjacks
The Monterey Amberjacks are a professional baseball team based in Monterey, California, which began play in 2017. The team is a member of the Pecos League, an independent baseball league which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball. They play their home games at Frank E. Sollecito, Jr. Ballpark, surrounded by Lake El Estero, with the beach at Monterey Bay Park a short distance beyond the left field fence. Monterey, California
Monterey (; es, Monterrey; Ohlone: ) is a city located in Monterey County on the southern edge of Monterey Bay on the U.S. state of California's Central Coast. Founded on June 3, 1770, it functioned as the capital of Alta California under both Spain (1804–1821) and Mexico (1822–1846). During this period, Monterey hosted California's first theater, public building, public library, publicly-funded school, printing-press, and newspaper. It was originally the only port of entry for all taxable goods in California. In 1846, during the Mexican–American War of 1846–1848, the United States Flag was raised over the Customs House. Jared Koenig
Jared Tyler Koenig (born January 24, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent. Amateur career Koenig grew up in Aptos, California and attended Aptos High School. Koenig began his college baseball career at Central Arizona College. He was selected in the 35th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago White Sox, but was not offered a contract by the team along with other late-round picks after signing first rounder Carlos Rodón to an above-slot signing bonus. After his sophomore season Koenig transferred to Old Dominion. Koenig pitched one season at Old Dominion before transferring to Cal State Monterey Bay for his senior season. Logan Craig Gillaspie (born April 17, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Gillaspie attended Frontier High School from 2011-2015. He was selected to play for the Oakland Athletics in the 2014 Area Code Games. He attended Oxnard College from 2015-2017, where he pitched alongside catching and playing third base. Professional career Gillaspie was not drafted out of Oxnard College in 2017 and joined the Monterey Amberjacks in the Pecos League, and from there was moved up to the Salina Stockade in the American Association of Professional Baseball. After being released, he was signed by the Sonoma Stompers in the Pacific Association.
