Monte Meidassa
Monte Meidassa is a peak in the Cottian Alps, in western Piedmont, northern Italy. The slightly higher Monte Granero is located nearby. Geography Administratively it is divided between the Metropolitan City of Turin and the province of Cuneo, both in the Piedmont region. Included in the ''comuni'' of Crissolo and Bobbio Pellice, not far from the boundary with France, it has an elevation of 3,105 m. It separates the Valle Pellice and the Valle Po. Monte Granero
Monte Granero is a peak in the Cottian Alps, in western Piedmont, northern Italy. It has an elevation of 3,170 m. It is located between the Val Pellice and the Valle Po, not far from the boundary with France. Administratively it's divided between the Metropolitan City of Turin and the province of Cuneo, both in the Piedmont region. The Pellice torrent starts from the Monte Granero's western slopes. The Monte Meidassa is located nearby. SOIUSA Code
SOIUSA code is the code used in the International Standardized Mountain Subdivision of the Alps (ISMSA or SOIUSA), a proposal by Italian Alpinist, Sergio Marazzi, to re-categorize the mountains and mountain ranges of the Alps. The proposal has been aired since 2005 but has yet to receive official recognition. SOIUSA groups' hierarchy SOIUSA divides the Alps in two main regions, the Western Alps and Eastern Alps. These two main regions are further divided in: *5 major sectors (SR); *36 sections (SZ); *132 subsections (STS); *333 supergroups (SPG); *870 groups (GR); *1625 subgroups (STG). Western Alps
The Western Alps are the western part of the Alpine Range including the southeastern part of France (e.g. Savoie), the whole of Monaco, the northwestern part of Italy (i.e. Piedmont and the Aosta Valley) and the southwestern part of Switzerland (e.g. Valais). In the southeast the range is bounded by the Italian Padan Plain. In the west, the valley of the Rhone river separates it from the Massif Central. Valle Po
The Valle Po (literally "Po valley") is a valley of the Cottian Alps in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont, northern Italy. Geography The valley gives rise to the longest river in Italy, the Po, before it enters the Pianura Padana (or Plain of the Po). It has a length of some 32 km, from Saluzzo to Crissolo, and is home to the Monviso mountain. It is bounded by the Val Pellice, Valle Varaita and the Valle del Guil. The head of the valley is located at the Traversette pass (''Colle delle Traversette'') (2950 m above sea level). The valley descends through the King's plain (''Pian del Re'') (2020 m), where the Po river has its source.
