Monte Carlo (biscuit)
Monte Carlo biscuits are an Australian sweet biscuit that have been manufactured since by Arnott's Biscuits Holdings. Each biscuit comprises two biscuit layers sandwiching a creamy filling, while many such biscuits are moulded to a design, both sides of the Monte Carlo biscuit are rough. The biscuit layers have a mild taste of golden syrup, honey and coconut, and the cream layer consists of a vanilla flavoured cream filling surrounded by a thin toffee-like coating of raspberry jam. The Monte Carlo biscuit is available in most Australian supermarkets, being typically sold in packages of 12 individual biscuits and as one of the five biscuits in the Arnott's Assorted Creams variety pack. With an average mass of , the Monte Carlo is the heaviest biscuit available in the Assorted Creams pack. The biscuits were named after the city of Monte Carlo. Arnott's Biscuits Limited is an Australian producer of biscuits and snack food. Founded in 1865, they are the largest producer of biscuits in Australia and a subsidiary of KKR. History In 1847, Scottish immigrant William Arnott opened a bakery in Morpeth, New South Wales. Later in 1865 he moved to a bakery on Hunter Street, Newcastle, providing bread, pies and biscuits for the townspeople and the ships docking at the local port. Vanilla is a spice derived from orchids of the genus ''Vanilla'', primarily obtained from pods of the Mexican species, flat-leaved vanilla ('' V. planifolia''). Pollination is required to make the plants produce the fruit from which the vanilla spice is obtained.
