Montana Fouts
Montana Fay Fouts (born June 4, 2000) is an American former All-American softball pitcher for the Alabama Crimson Tide and member of the United States women's national softball team. She is best known for pitching a perfect game against UCLA in the 2021 Women's College World Series. Early life Montana Fay Fouts was born on June 4, 2000, in Charleston, West Virginia. After her parents separated, she moved with her mother to Grayson, Kentucky, at age 10; her father regularly drove around 80 miles from Charleston to Grayson to watch her high school games. She attended East Carter High School where she was named Kentucky's Miss Softball and Kentucky's state Gatorade Player of the Year in softball in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. 2022 World Games
The 2022 World Games were an international multi-sport event held from July 7 to 17, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. They were the 11th World Games, a multi-sport event featuring disciplines of Olympic sports and other competitions that are not currently contested at the Olympic Games; the Games featured 3,600 athletes competing in 206 medal events over 30 sports. Gatorade Player Of The Year Awards
The Gatorade Player of the Year awards are given annually to up and coming high school student-athletes in the United States. They are given for boys' baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' cross country, boys' football, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' track & field, girls' softball, and girls' volleyball. A "State Player of the Year" award is given to the best student-athlete in each of the twelve sports in the District of Columbia and each of the fifty states, where each sport is recognized as an interscholastic sport. Grayson, Kentucky
Grayson is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Carter County, Kentucky, United States, on US Route 60 and Interstate 64 in the state's northeastern region. It is approximately 21 miles west of Ashland. Within the city limits, the population was 4,217 at the 2010 census. 2021 Women's College World Series
The 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 21 through June 10, 2021 as the final part of the 2021 NCAA Division I softball season. 31 teams were awarded automatic bids as champions of their conferences after the Ivy League opted out of the 2021 softball season. The remaining 33 were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee on May 16, 2021. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2021 Women's College World Series at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. The UCLA Bruins softball team represents the University of California, Los Angeles in NCAA Division I softball. United States Women's National Softball Team
The United States women's national softball team is the national softball team of the United States. It is governed by USA Softball (formerly known as the Amateur Softball Association) and takes part in international softball competitions. The US team has been dominant in international play, taking the gold medal in three straight Olympics and seven straight world championships. They won the silver medal at the 2008 and 2020 Summer Olympics. In the 2004 Olympics the team held its opponents to one run scored in 7 games. Softball
Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level. The game was first created in 1887 in Chicago by George Hancock. There are two rule sets for softball generally: ''slow pitch softball'' and ''fastpitch''. Slow pitch softball is commonly played recreationally, while women's fastpitch softball is a Summer Olympic sport and is played professionally. Softball At The 2023 Pan American Games
Softball competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile are scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 4. The venue for the competition is the Baseball and Softball Center located in the Cerrillos commune of Santiago. A total of eight women's teams (each consisting up to 16 athletes) will compete in each tournament. This means a total of 144 athletes are scheduled to compete.
