Montabaur (region)
Montabaur was one of the five ''Regierungsbezirke'' of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany into which the newly founded state was divided until 1968. The others were: Rheinhessen (established 1946, seat in Mainz), Pfalz (established 1945, seat in Neustadt an der Weinstraße), Koblenz and Trier (both established by Prussia in 1816. History ''Regierungsbezirk'' Wiesbaden, formed in 1866 as part of the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau, had been divided by after the Second World War by the occupying powers as it lay astride a zone boundary. The majority of the ''Regierungsbezirk'' lay in the American Zone and became part of the state of Hesse in 1945. The ''Regierungsbezirk'' of Montabaur had to be created for the smaller northwestern part and became part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946. Regierungsbezirk Koblenz
Koblenz was one of the - at last - three ''Regierungsbezirke'' of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, located in the north-east of the state. The region was created in 1815 as part of the Prussian Rhineland, becoming part of the new state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946. In 1968 the neighbouring Montabaur Region was dissolved and its territory annexed to Koblenz Region. Since 2000, the employees and assets of the Bezirksregierungen form the ''Aufsichts- und Dienstleistungsdirektion Trier'' (Supervisory and Service Directorate Trier) and the ''Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektionen'' (Structural and Approval Directorates) ''Nord'' in Koblenz and ''Süd'' in Neustadt (Weinstraße). Diez, Germany
Diez an der Lahn is a town in Germany's Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate, on the borders of Hesse. Diez is the administrative seat of the municipality of Diez. Sitting on the confluence of the Lahn and Aar rivers, the town and the area have been inhabited by humans since the Stone Age. Sankt Goarshausen (abbreviated St. Goarshausen) is a town located in the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis in Nassau on the eastern shore of the Rhine, in the section known as the Rhine Gorge, directly across the river from Sankt Goar, in the German state Rhineland-Palatinate.
