Mont Tendre
Mont Tendre is a mountain of the Jura, located between the valley of Joux and the basin of Lake Geneva in the canton of Vaud. With an elevation of 1,679 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit of the Swiss portion of the Jura Mountains and, therefore, the highest summit of Switzerland outside the Alps. It is also the most isolated mountain of the canton. It is found in the community of Montricher. A paved road from Montricher reaches a height of 1,615 metres, northeast of the summit. A restaurant is located at its end, the ''Chalet du Mont Tendre''. Swisstopo
Swisstopo is the official name for the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (in German language, German: ''Bundesamt für Landestopografie''; French language, French: ''Office fédéral de topographie''; Italian language, Italian: ''Ufficio federale di topografia''; Romansh language, Romansh: ''Uffizi federal da topografia''), Switzerland's national mapping agency. This is a list of mountains of the Swiss canton of Vaud. Vaud is partly mountainous and is one of the nine cantons having summits above 3,000 metres. It is also one of the two cantons (with Bern) extending over both the high Alps and the Jura. Topographically, the three most important summits of the canton are those of the Diablerets (most elevated), the Vanil Noir (most prominent) and Mont Tendre (most isolated). The topographic isolation of a summit is the minimum distance to a point of equal elevation, representing a radius of dominance in which the peak is the highest point. It can be calculated for small hills and islands as well as for major mountain peaks and can even be calculated for submarine summits. Col De La Givrine
Col de la Givrine (el. 1228 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Jura Mountains in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, near the border with France. It connects Nyon in Switzerland and Morez in France. The maximum grade of the pass road is 8 percent. The pass is crossed by the Nyon–St-Cergue–La Cure railway, although the railway stops at the French border. Vallée De Joux
The Vallée de Joux is a valley of the Jura Mountains mainly in the Swiss Canton of Vaud. The valley also continues into France ( Jura département) at its higher, southwestern, end. Located north of Geneva and northwest of Lausanne, its mean elevation is over . There are three Swiss lakes in the ''Vallée de Joux'': the lac de Joux (around long), the lac Brenet and Lake Ter. The French border runs along the northern edge of the valley until, about west of the lac de Joux, the base of the valley becomes French territory.
