Monster Nation (novel)
''Monster Nation'' (2005) is a horror novel by American writer David Wellington. It concerns the opening days of a zombie apocalypse and the end of the world. The novel was originally serialized online. It is a prequel to '' Monster Island'' (published online in 2004 and in print in 2006), and is one of a trilogy of novels, which also includes '' Monster Planet'' (2005). Plot The Colorado Army National Guard is called in to investigate a strange epidemic at ADX Florence. Its soldiers struggle to contain the disease before it overruns the United States, and search for a mysterious woman who may be vital to the solution. The novel begins with a mysterious woman in California being bitten on the street by a random man who walks up to her. She runs into the nearest establishment, an oxygen bar and proceeds to get high while waiting for the police to show up. David Wellington (author)
David Wellington (born 1971) is an American writer of horror fiction, best known for his Zombie trilogy. He also writes science fiction as D. Nolan Clark. Biography Wellington was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Syracuse University and received an MFA in creative writing from Penn State. He also holds a master's degree in Library Science from the Pratt Institute. He now lives in New York City. He made his debut as a comic book writer on ''Marvel Zombies Return: Iron Man''. His novel ''The Last Astronaut'' was nominated for the 2020 Arthur C. Clarke Award. Fremont County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 48,939. The county seat is Cañon City. Nilla is a brand name owned by Nabisco that is most closely associated with its line of vanilla-flavored, wafer-style cookies. The name is a shortened version of vanilla, the flavor profile common to all Nilla-branded products. Horror is a genre of fiction which is intended to frighten, scare, or disgust. The United States Penitentiary, Florence Administrative Maximum Facility (USP Florence ADMAX), commonly known as ADX Florence, is an American federal prison in Fremont County near Florence, Colorado. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. ADX Florence, which opened in 1994, is classed as a supermax or "control unit" prison, thus providing a higher, more controlled level of custody than a maximum security prison.
