''Monsoon'' is the fifth studio album and first major label album by American alternative rock band Caroline's Spine. It featured almost entirely songs that can be found on their previous independent releases but were re-recorded or remastered for this album. The single " Sullivan" climbed to #23 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, as well as #14 on R&R’s Active Rock Chart. The success of this album also earned them a gig playing on board the United States Navy aircraft carrier USS ''Enterprise''. An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Sullivan (song)
"Sullivan" is a song by Caroline's Spine and the debut single from their major label debut album, ''Monsoon''. It was previously included on their independently released albums, '' Ignore the Ants'' and ''Huge'', in 1995 and '96. The song was later included on the 2006 compilation, '' The Collection''. It quickly became the band's most popular song, reaching #23 on '' Billboard''s Mainstream Rock Tracks. Overview The song tells the true story of five siblings, the Sullivan brothers from Waterloo, Iowa, who died aboard the USS ''Juneau'' in World War II. Lyrically, it focuses on Mrs. Sullivan's communication both with her sons and the military. Caroline's Spine singer and main songwriter Jimmy Newquist wrote the song after reading the war documentary ''Hollywood Goes to War''. Stephen Marcussen is the founder and chief mastering engineer at Marcussen Mastering in Hollywood, California, United States. He has been mastering music since 1979. Biography Marcussen's introduction to music recording happened in 1976 when, at the age of 19, he was offered a janitor position at Studio 55, record producer Richard Perry's Los Angeles recording studio. At Studio 55, Marcussen received an education in all facets of music recording and sound production. By the end of his Studio 55 tenure, he had earned his first album credits as an assistant engineer, working on The Manhattan Transfer's ''Pastiche'', Boz Scaggs's '' Middle Man'', and The Pointer Sisters's ''Special Things''. Caroline's Spine is an alternative rock band based in Phoenix, Arizona. The group's touring schedule in the mid-1990s landed them a record deal with Hollywood Records. They have released several studio albums and shared billings with such bands as Aerosmith, Kiss, and Queensrÿche. Songs by the group include " Sullivan," "Wallflower", "Attention Please", "Nothing To Prove" and "The Light Inside".
