Mons Espelid
Mons Espelid (22 April 1926 – 16 March 2009) was a Norway, Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party (Norway), Liberal Party and dentist. He was born in Askøy as a son of manager Ivar Espelid (1880–1946) and teacher Gudrid Eidnes (1883–1959). He was a brother of Ingrid Espelid Hovig and through her a brother-in-law of Jan Inge Hovig. He was a member of the Parliament of Norway from List of members of Stortinget 1981-1985, 1981–1985, where he sat in the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs. He was mayor of Askøy from 1975 to 1977 and from 1979 to 1981, and deputy mayor from 1978 to 1979. Liberal Party (Norway)
The Liberal Party ( no, Venstre, lit=Left, V; se, Gurutbellodat) is a centrist political party in Norway. It was founded in 1884 and it is the oldest political party in Norway. It is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, and it is a liberal party which has over the time enacted reforms such as parliamentarism, freedom of religion, universal suffrage, and state schooling. Askøy is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island municipality is located in the Midhordland district of the county, sitting in a large group of islands immediately northwest of the city of Bergen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the urban village of Kleppestø on the southeastern shore of the island of Askøy. The municipality is the 328th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Askøy is the 36th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 29,816. Jan Inge Hovig
Jan Inge Hovig (11 May 1920 – 4 July 1977) was a Norwegian architect. Hovig was born at Verran in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. He was the son of Johannes Sigurd Hovig (1895-1953) and Gudlaug Pauline Taugstad (1900-1969). Hovig finished his studies at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1946. He was city architect during the reconstruction of Narvik 1947–1950. Narvik had been devastated in battle during 1940 as part of the Norwegian Campaign of the German invasion of Norway. In 1950 he moved to Oslo and founded his own office. In 1956 Hovig entered into a partnership with Christian Norberg-Schulz. From 1972 Hovig entered into a partnership with Helge B. Kvernes in Porsgrunn. Hovig represented Norway at the Architecture Exhibition during the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.
