Monodendri, Achaea
Monodendri (Greek: Μονοδένδρι) is a suburban village located 10 km south of Patras, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Vrachnaiika. It is situated on the Gulf of Patras coast, adjacent to Roitika to the north, and Vrachnaiika to the southwest. The community has a disused train station on the line form Patras to Pyrgos. Its population is around 700. The Greek National Road 9 (Patras - Pyrgos) passes east of the village. Achaea () or Achaia (), sometimes transliterated from Greek as Akhaia (, ''Akhaïa'' ), is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Western Greece and is situated in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The capital is Patras which is the third largest city in Greece. Geography Achaea is bordered by Elis to the west and southwest, Arcadia to the south, and Corinthia to the east and southeast. Vrachnaiika ( el, Βραχνέικα or Βραχναίικα, ) is a town and a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Patras, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 32.111 km2. Gulf Of Patras
The Gulf of Patras ( el, Πατραϊκός Κόλπος, ''Patraikós Kólpos'') is a branch of the Ionian Sea in Western Greece. On the east, it is closed by the Strait of Rion between capes Rio, Greece, Rio and Antirrio, near the Rio-Antirrio bridge, that is the entrance of the Gulf of Corinth. On the west, it is bounded by a line from Oxeia island to Cape Araxos. To the north it is bounded by the shore of Aetolia-Acarnania in continental Greece, and to the south by Achaea in the Peloponnese peninsula. It is long, wide, and has an area of 350–400 km2. Greek National Road 9
Greek National Road 9 ( el, Εθνική Οδός 9, abbreviated as EO9) is a single carriageway with at-grade intersections in the West Greece and Peloponnese regions. It runs along the west coast of the Peloponnese peninsula, from Patras to Methoni via Pyrgos. Its length is around , making it the second-longest national highway of Greece. The government of Greece plans to replace the road by a new motorway. This will be a southern extension of the Ionia Odos, numbered A5, which will connect the Albanian border near Ioannina with the A7 north of Kalamata.
