Monmouth Town F.C.
Monmouth Town Football Club is a Welsh football club based in the historic town of Monmouth. The club plays in the Ardal Leagues South East, tier 3 of the Welsh football pyramid. History Association football was first played in Monmouth as early as February 1870. Regular association matches was played between Monmouth Grammar School and Troy FC (Mitchel Troy). By 1874, both teams had fully converted to rugby, and very rarely played association football over the next few years. At the beginning of the 1888/1889 season. Monmouth Association Football Club were formed. Their first match was a 6–3 win at home to Micheltroy. Monmouth lost their second match 5–0 away to Abergavenny AFC. During their third match, away to Micheltroy, one of Monmouth's players, T. T. Williams, a Monmouth Grammar School pupil, broke his leg during the match. The match was immediately abandoned. Monmouth
Monmouth ( , ; cy, Trefynwy meaning "town on the Monnow") is a town and community in Wales. It is situated where the River Monnow joins the River Wye, from the Wales–England border. Monmouth is northeast of Cardiff, and west of London. It is within the Monmouthshire local authority, and the parliamentary constituency of Monmouth. The population in the 2011 census was 10,508, rising from 8,877 in 2001. Monmouth is the historic county town of Monmouthshire although Abergavenny is now the county town. Ardal Leagues
The Ardal Leagues are a football league in Wales. The word "ardal" translates as "district" in English, with Wales split into four regions at this level. They have clubs with amateur/semi-professional status and sit at the third level of the Welsh football league system. The first year of their operation would have been 2020–21 but the 2020–21 Ardal North East season, 2020–21 Ardal North West season, 2020–21 Ardal South East season and 2020–21 Ardal South West season were all cancelled. The inaugural season was moved to 2021–22. The creation of the leagues mark the first time the Football Association of Wales owns and is administering tier 3 of the Welsh league system. The British Newspaper Archive web site provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London, until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The library has an almost complete collection of British and Irish newspapers since 1840. Steve Jenkins
Stephen Robert Jenkins (born 16 July 1972) is a former Wales international footballer. A full back, he won 16 Welsh caps between 1995 and 2001. He began his career at Swansea, where he was a part of the team that won the 1994 Football League Trophy Final after a penalty shootout. After a seven-year spell at Huddersfield Town, in which he became not only the captain but a well established fans' favourite, Jenkins signed for Swindon Town in 2005, but after Swindon's relegation to League Two and the appointment of Dennis Wise as manager, Jenkins' offer of a new deal at the County Ground was withdrawn and he was released.
