Monmouth Hawks Football
The Monmouth Hawks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Monmouth University located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the upcoming 2022 season, the Hawks compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The school's first football team was fielded in 1993. The team plays its home games at the 4,200 seat Kessler Field. They are coached by Kevin Callahan. Kevin Callahan (born February 18, 1955) is an American college football coach who is the head football coach at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Neal Sterling
Neal J. Sterling (born January 14, 1992) is a former American football tight end who played in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons. He played college football at Monmouth and was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft, where he spent his first two seasons. During his final two seasons, he was a member of the New York Jets. Early years Sterling attended Belmar Elementary School (Belmar, New Jersey) and Manasquan High School (in Manasquan, New Jersey), where he played both basketball and football. Sterling was a two-time NJSIAA Group II Central Jersey State Champion his junior and senior year at Manasquan High School under coach Pete Cahill. John Nalbone
Johnathan Gregory Nalbone (born May 14, 1986) is a former American football tight end. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Monmouth. Nalbone was also a member of the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. Professional career Miami Dolphins Nalbone was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round (161st overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. Chris Hogan (American Football)
Christopher James Hogan (born October 24, 1987) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons. He played college football at Monmouth following three years of college lacrosse at Penn State. Joining the NFL as an undrafted free agent, Hogan landed his first roster spot in 2012 with the Buffalo Bills, where he played four seasons. After signing a three-year contract with the New England Patriots in 2016, Hogan made consecutive Super Bowl appearances each season and won two. Jose Gumbs (born April 20, 1988) is a former American football safety. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He began playing football at Hebron Academy and later for Monmouth University at the collegiate level. He was also a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins. Miles Jonathon Austin III (born June 30, 1984) is an American football coach and former wide receiver who is the wide receivers coach for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). The 2020–21 NCAA Division I FCS football season, part of college football in the United States, was organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. The regular season and postseason were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Multiple FCS conferences moved their scheduled games from the fall of 2020 to the spring of 2021, and in August 2020, the NCAA announced that the FCS postseason would also be delayed.
