Febo (or Febos) Moniz (1515 – aft. 1580) was a Portuguese nobleman who distinguished himself during the 1580 Portuguese succession crisis. Life He was the second son of Jerónimo Moniz and wife Violante da Silva. Matt Moniz (born February 1998) is an American mountaineer and speaker noted for his ascents of 8,000 meter peaks and several of the Seven Summits. Early climbs In 2007, Moniz climbed to the Mount Everest Base Camp. It was Moniz's first experience with hiking and scaling a mountain. In 2008, following the Nepal trek Moniz summitted Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. Moniz then climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with his twin sister Kaylee at the age of 10, accompanied by their parents. He also climbed to the summit of Aconcagua, the highest summit in the Americas. He was the youngest person to ever reach the summit. Martim Moniz
Martim Moniz (; died 1147) was a Portugal, Portuguese knight of Nobility, noble birth, and famous figure in the Siege of Lisbon in 1147. According to the legend, Martim Moniz was a knight participating in the Christians, Christian invasion force, led by king Afonso I of Portugal, in the Siege of Lisbon, during the ''Reconquista''. At one point in the siege of São Jorge Castle, he saw the Moors closing the castle doors. He led an attack on the doors, and sacrificed himself by lodging his own body in the doorway, preventing the defenders from fully closing the door. This heroic act allowed time for his fellow soldiers to arrive and secure the door, leading to the eventual capture of the castle. Martim Moniz was killed in the incident. Júlio Carlos Alves Dias Botelho Moniz ( Lisbon, 12 October 1900 – Lisbon, 30 September 1970) was a Portuguese soldier and politician.
