Monique Smit
Margaret Gertrude Mary (Monique) Smit (born 9 April 1989) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. Early life Monique grew up in Volendam as the younger sister of Jan Smit. After finishing school, she attended Don Bosco College, and later became a hairdresser. Career Smit participated in her brother's reality series ''Gewoon Jan Smit''. She presented the show ''Zapp Kids Top 20'' for TROS and ''Wild van Muziek'' broadcast on Sterren 24. She also appeared in the reality show ''Just the Two of Us'' in 2007 where she came in second and performed in a duet with Xander de Buisonjé. Smit debuted with her solo "Wild", which was in top five in 2007. One year later she released her first solo album ''Stel Je Voor'', which contains singles like ""Vrouwenalfabet" and "Stel Je Voor". Volendam
Volendam () is a fishing town in the municipality of Edam-Volendam, province of North Holland, Netherlands. As of 1 January 2021, it has a population of 22,715. It is twinned with Coventry, England. History Originally, Volendam was the location of the harbour of the nearby Edam, which was situated at the mouth of the IJ bay. In 1357, the inhabitants of Edam dug a shorter canal to the Zuiderzee with its own separate harbour. This removed the need for the original harbour, which was then dammed and used for land reclamation. Farmers and local fishermen settled there, forming the new community of Vollendam, which translates to 'Full dam'. In the early part of the 20th century Volendam became something of an artists' retreat, with both Picasso and Renoir spending time here. Jan Smit (singer)
Jan Smit (born 31 December 1985) is a Dutch singer, television host, and actor. Smit mostly sings songs in the Dutch language, in a genre known as ''Volendam music''. In addition to his solo career, in 2015 Smit joined the schlager trio KLUBBB3, and in 2017 The Toppers. As a TV presenter, he has worked on programs like the ''Beste Zangers'' (Best Singers in the Netherlands) and ''Sterren Muziekfeest op het Plein'' (Music Festival on the square.) Since 1999, Smit has been serving as an ambassador for the SOS Children's Villages, and is a member of the board for the football club FC Volendam. Nederland 24 was the collective name for a number of specialty television channels from the Dutch public broadcasting system. It also broadcasts a sample channel of the same name featuring a mix of programming from the other thematic channels. A couple of these specialty channel are still available, but are now fully under the wings of the NPO. Originally it consisted of seventeen channels which were available through cable and online (cf. Overview The ''Nederland 24'' channels were an expansion of the Dutch public broadcasting system, in which public broadcasting associations provide general programming. Based on the number of active members, broadcasting associations receive airtime on three national public television stations (NPO 1, NPO 2 and NPO 3). Alexander Serge de Buisonjé (born 19 July 1973) is a Dutch singer who performs in Dutch and English. He is also a TV presenter most well known for presenting ''Vrienden van Amstel LIVE!'' (2010) and ''Vrienden van Amstel zingen Kroonjuwelen'' (2012) which had a similar format but focused on performing songs of ''kroonjuweel'' calibre. He also presented ''Studio 9'', where an artist would be sequestered for 36 hours along with a mystery artist from an entirely different genre, in order to create a brand new song together. Tim Douwsma
Tim Douwsma (born 4 November 1987) is a Dutch singer. In 2007, he participated in the talent show '' So You Wanna Be a Popstar'' on Dutch television channel SBS 6. Career Douwsma was born in Drachten, Friesland, Netherlands. After graduation from high school, he studied at the CIOS, a sports training school, but stopped his training to focus more on a singing and acting career, as well as briefly modeling. In 2007, he took part in ''So You Wanna Be a Popstar'' finishing fifth overall. At the end of 2007, he recorded his debut single "Wil je bij me blijven slapen op" that reached No. 18 on the Single Top 100.
