Monica MacDonald
Monica MacDonald (born 5 May 1967) is an Australian figure skating coach and former competitor in ice dancing. With Rodney Clarke, she became a four-time Australian national champion (1986–1989) and placed 20th at the 1988 Winter Olympics. She later won three national titles with Duncan Smart (1990–1992). Personal life MacDonald was born on 5 May 1967. She is the mother of Brendan Kerry, who competed in men's singles at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics, and of Chantelle Kerry, who competed in ladies' singles at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. Career MacDonald began learning to skate at Homebush Ice Rink in Australia and, when she was almost 12 years old, became a student of Barbara Clarke. Figure skating was first contested in the Olympic Games at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Since 1924, the sport has been a part of the Winter Olympic Games. Men's singles, ladies' singles, and pair skating have been held most often. Ice dance joined as a medal sport in 1976 and a team event debuted at the 2014 Olympics. Special figures were contested at only one Olympics, in 1908. Synchronized skating has never appeared at the Olympics but aims to be included. William Badaoui (born 27 July 1998) is an Australian former competitive ice dancer. With his skating partner, Matilda Friend, he is the 2016 Australian national champion and represented Australia at five Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Andrew Dodds (born 2 August 1991) is an Australian figure skater who competes in both men's singles and ice dance. As a single skater, he is a three-time Australian national silver medalist and has competed in the final segment at four Four Continents Championships. As an ice dancer with partner Chantelle Kerry, he is a two-time Australian national champion (2017, 2018) and has appeared at two Four Continents.
