Monica (Portuguese language, Portuguese: ''Mônica'') is a Brazil, Brazilian fictional character and Mauricio de Sousa's best-known creation. Introduced in 1963, she serves as the main protagonist and title character of the ''Monica and Friends'' (''Turma da Mônica'') comic book series and media franchise. De Sousa based the character on his second daughter, also named Mônica Sousa, Monica, with whom the fictional character shares some physical characteristics. In her first appearances, she was a supporting character to Jimmy Five, but was gradually made the principal character. An eponymous comic book series began publication from 1970. Concept and creation Monica was based on Mauricio de Sousa's daughter in childhood. The reason for her creation was due to a complaint of the lack of female characters in Mauricio comics. The maxillary central incisor is a human tooth in the front upper jaw, or maxilla, and is usually the most visible of all teeth in the mouth. It is located mesial (closer to the midline of the face) to the maxillary lateral incisor. As with all incisors, their function is for shearing or cutting food during mastication (chewing). Maggy (Monica's Gang)
Maggy (original "Magali"), is a character of the popular Brazilian comic book series '' Monica and Friends''. She was created by Mauricio de Sousa, who based the character on one of his daughters, Magali Spada e Souza. Monica, Mary Angela (Jimmy's sister) and Marina were also based on Mauricio's daughters. Maggy has her own comic book, in which there are also stories of her cat, Vanilla. She received her own comic book in 1989 and is being published uninterruptedly since then. Characteristics Maggy is seven years old, although in rare occasions she is described as a six-year-old. Her most notable feature is her voracious appetite. Cassius, known as Smudge (originally ''Cascão'' – Portuguese language, Portuguese for a dirt layer that may appear on the human skin when not washed frequently - in the Brazilian version) is one of the main characters of ''Monica's Gang''. He was created in 1961Smudge in Turma da Mônica's Official website and since 1982 has his own printed comics appearing weekly on the newsagents. Mauricio de Sousa, his creator, says he based the character on a child he knew while growing up in Mogi das Cruzes. The child was a friend of his brother Márcio, and was also not too hygienic. ''Lionel's Kingdom'' (''Turma da Mata'') is a Brazilian comic strip created in 1961 and part of the ''Monica's Gang'' comic strips. The series features anthropomorphic animals who almost all walking on two feet (except for Tim Turtle), wear clothes, and obviously, are able to speak. Blu (comic Strip Character)
''Blu'' (''Bidu'') is a character in the Brazilian comic strip ''Monica's Gang'', created in 1959. He was the first character created by Maurício de Sousa, along with his owner Franklin (''Franjinha''). The character appears in the logo and is the mascot of Mauricio de Sousa Produções, the company founded by Sousa to release his works. Blu is the only character who appears in two different kinds of stories. In one, he is a normal dog, owned by Franklin, who fears taking baths (but is invariably forced to take them by Franklin), does anything in exchange for a bone, and plays around with the other dogs from the neighborhood.
