Mongun-Taiga
Möngün-Taiga, also known as ''Mungun-Taiga'' ( tyv , Мөңгүн-Тайга - Silver Mountain) is a massif in Mongun-Tayginsky District, Mongun-Taiga kozhuun, Russia. The Russian part of the Altay Mountains is considered part of West Siberian Plain, Western Siberia, but Möngün-Taiga in 1932 was transferred (along with the north of Uvs Nuur Basin) from the Mongolian People's Republic of Tuva, and in 1944 became part of Eastern Siberia. Tuva (; russian: Тува́) or Tyva ( tyv, Тыва), officially the Republic of Tuva (russian: Респу́блика Тыва́, r=Respublika Tyva, p=rʲɪˈspublʲɪkə tɨˈva; tyv, Тыва Республика, translit=Tyva Respublika ), is a federal subject of Russia (a republic, also defined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation as a state). Altay Mountains
The Altai Mountains (), also spelled Altay Mountains, are a mountain range in Central Asia, Central and East Asia, where Russia, China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan converge, and where the rivers Irtysh and Ob River, Ob have their headwaters. The massif merges with the Sayan Mountains in the northeast, and gradually becomes lower in the southeast, where it merges into the high plateau of the Gobi Desert. It spans from about 45° to 52° N and from about 84° to 99° E. West Siberian Plain
The West Siberian Plain (russian: За́падно-Сиби́рская равни́на ''Zapadno-Sibirskaya ravnina'') is a large plain that occupies the western portion of Siberia, between the Ural Mountains in the west and the Yenisei River in the east, and by the Altai Mountains on the southeast. Much of the plain is poorly drained and consists of some of the world's largest swamps and floodplains. Important cities include Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, and Tomsk, as well as Surgut and Nizhnevartovsk. Winters on the West Siberian Plain are harsh and long.
