Mongo, Chad
Mongo (Arabic: مونقو, Mūnqū) is a city and sub-prefecture in Chad, the capital of the region of Guéra. Located in the northern part of the region, it lies 252.2 miles (406 km) by road east of the capital N'Djamena. It is served by Mongo Airport. Mike Mangold
Michael Eugene Mangold (October 10, 1955 – December 6, 2015) was an American Boeing 767 and 757 commercial pilot for American Airlines and an aerobatics pilot. Mangold competed in the Red Bull Air Race World Series from 2004 through 2009, where he repeatedly placed first and won the World Championship in the 2005 World Series, as well as the 2007 World Series. His nickname and call sign in the military was "Mongo". Biography Early life Mangold was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was the oldest of three children. He moved to California at 3 years old and then to Pennsylvania for his high school years. Mongo (1959–1983) was an American Champion Thoroughbred racehorse that was most notable for his performances in turf races. Background He was bred and raced by Marion duPont Scott, a member of the prominent Du Pont family. His sire was imported British stallion Royal Charger, a son of Nearco, which ''Thoroughbred Heritage'' says was "one of the greatest racehorses of the Twentieth Century". Mongo's dam was Accra, Ms. Du Pont Scott's foundation mare, who produced at least seven other winners including the three-time American Champion Steeplechase Horse Neji. Racing career Frank Bonsal, a former jockey in steeplechase racing, conditioned Mongo for racing. As a three-year-old in 1962, the colt won important races on turf under jockey Charlie Burr. Currently, the lowest denomination in regular use is the 10-tögrög note and the highest is the 20,000-tögrög note. In Unicode, the currency sign is . In 2010, the tögrög rose 15% against the US dollar, due to the growth of the mining industry in Mongolia. However, its exchange rate eroded by 24% from early 2013 to June 2014 due to falling foreign investment and mining revenue. Alexander George Karras (July 15, 1935 – October 10, 2012) was an American football player, professional wrestler, sportscaster, and actor. He was a four-time Pro Bowl player with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL), where he played from 1958 to 1970. As an actor, Karras played Mongo in the 1974 comedy film '' Blazing Saddles''. Mongo The Magnificent
Dr. Robert "Mongo" Fredrickson, a.k.a. Mongo the Magnificent, is a fictional private eye and criminologist who has dwarfism, appearing in several books by George C. Chesbro. His rather unusual nickname is actually his stage name, from his days as an acrobat in a circus (a career that is over by the time the book series begins). The novels are usually classified as mysteries, but frequently contain strong elements of speculative fiction such as extra-sensory perception and cryptozoology. Cultural impact Marvel Comics has a supporting character Chesbro, a genius who is afflicted with dwarfism. He is the majordomo to the villain the Black Tarantula.
