Mong, Azad Kashmir
Mong (also called Mang) is a city and village in Sudhnoti District of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Sudhan (Sadozai) is the main tribes of Mong. Geography Mong consists of 7 villages and 3 union councils: Mong, Patan Shar Khan, and Dhingroon Kanchri. The major villages in Mong are Mehna Naar'orri, Dhara & Daar, Thaneliyaan Khoor, Kanchri, Dhingroon and Pattan Shar Khan. Mong is well connected by roads to major cities of Kashmir and Pakistan. Mong is connected to Pallandri, Rawalakot, Thorar. Daily buses carry passengers inter-state as well as within the city. The nearest major airport is located at Rawalakot. Sudhan
Sudhans (also known as Sudhozai Pathans) is one of the major tribes from the districts of Poonch, Sudhanoti, Bagh and Kotli in Azad Kashmir, allegedly originating from Pashtun areas. History and particulars The tribe claims an Afghan ancestry. According to Syed Ali, Sudhans have a Pashtun descent and moved to the Poonch district of Kashmir region some centuries ago. Sudhans from Poonch considered themselves to be ''Sudhozai'' Pathans (Pashtuns). Scholar Iffat Malik of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad writes: About 40,000–60,000 Sudhans were recruited and served in the British Indian Army during the First and Second World Wars. The Sadozai are a lineage of the Popalzai clan of the Abdali tribe of the ethnic Pashtun. The lineage takes its name from its ancestor, Sado Khan. Khan Of Mong
Khan Muhammad Khan (Urdu: خان محمد خان) ( – June 1995) commonly known as Khan of Mong, was a Captain in the British Indian Army during the World War II. After demobilisation, he served as a rebel leader during the First Kashmir War. Thorar is a town in Poonch District in Azad Kashmir. It is located about 20 miles from Rawalakot city, the capital of Poonch district. Rawalakot
Rawalakot ( ur, ) is the capital of Poonch district in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is located in the Pir Panjal Range. History Along with Pallandri, Rawalakot was the focal point of the 1955 Poonch uprising. Pallandri
Pallandri, also spelled Palandri ( ur, ), originally Pulandari, is a Tehsil which serves as administrative capital of Sudhanoti district of Azad Kashmir. It is located at latitude 33° 42′ 54″ N, longitude 73° 41′ 9″ E, from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It is connected with Rawalpindi and Islamabad through Azad Pattan road. The main tribe of Pallandri is the Sudhan tribe. History Pallandri was central for the violent anti government 1955 Poonch uprising, which was led by the Sudhans.
