Money Free Movement
The Money Free movement is a political movement that advocates for a resource-based economy, where all work is voluntary. The movement has political parties in New Zealand and the United Kingdom and is aligned with work of the American-based Jacque Fresco, who is the founder of The Venus Project. The movement has fielded candidates in several elections across at least two countries, but has not won any positions. Political activities in New Zealand , Money Free Party NZ is led by Richard Osmaston, who founded the party. Osmaston had stood for the Mayor of Nelson, New Zealand, mayor of Nelson in 2013 before founding the party in 2014. Elections The party was unable to get enough verified members (500) to register for the 2014 New Zealand general election, 2014 general election. A resource-based or natural-resource-based economy is that of a country whose gross national product or gross domestic product to a large extent comes from natural resources. Examples The economies of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar are highly dependent on exporting oil and gas. Suriname's exports of bauxite account for more than 15% of GDP and 70% of export earnings. Of Russian exports, more than 80% are oil, natural gas, metals and timber. Since Russia has a resource-based economy, it depends most of all on the fluctuations of oil and gas demand and prices. 2022 Hamilton West By-election
The 2022 Hamilton West by-election was a List of New Zealand by-elections, by-election in New Zealand's electorate. The seat became vacant due to the resignation of former New Zealand Labour Party, Labour Party MP Gaurav Sharma (politician), Gaurav Sharma on 18 October 2022 after expulsion from the party caucus. The by-election was held on 10 December 2022, with twelve candidates on the ballot, and was won by the New Zealand National Party, National Party candidate Tama Potaka. Free Money Day
Free Money Day is an annual global event held since 2011 as a social experiment and to promote sharing and alternative economic ideas. Overview The day is held annually on September 15, the anniversary of the Lehman Brothers' 2008 filing for bankruptcy. Participants offer their own money to passing strangers at public places, two coins or notes at a time. Recipients are asked to pass on one of the notes or coins to someone else. Participants can also leave money with a note at a public place where it is likely to be found by another person, or to share money digitally. Since 2020, these latter options have been encouraged in populations under COVID-19 pandemic restrictions that limit in-person interactions. Election Deposit
In an electoral system, a deposit is the sum of money that a candidate for an elected office, such as a seat in a legislature, is required to pay to an electoral authority before they are permitted to stand for election. The 2015 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 7 May 2015 to elect 650 members to the House of Commons.
