''Monelle'' (French: ''Les amoureux sont seuls au monde'') is a 1948 French drama film directed by Henri Decoin and starring Louis Jouvet, Renée Devillers and Dany Robin.Bazin p.6 It was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris and on location in the city. The film's sets were designed by the art director Emile Alex Synopsis Gérard Favier is a celebrated composer who is in love with his wife Sylvia. He takes on a young piano protégé Monelle and helps propel her to success, but newspaper reports suggests that they are having an affair. Dany Robin
Dany Robin (; 14 April, 1927 – 25 May, 1995) was a French actress of the 1950s and the 1960s. Career Robin was born Danielle Robin in Clamart. She performed with Peter Sellers in ''The Waltz of the Toreadors'', and co-starred opposite Kirk Douglas in the 1953 romantic drama '' Act of Love''. Robin co-starred with Connie Francis, Paula Prentiss, and Janis Paige in '' Follow the Boys'' (1963). Her last leading role was the agent's wife Nicole Devereaux in Alfred Hitchcock's ''Topaz'' (1969). Personal life and death Robin was married to fellow actor Georges Marchal. On 25 May 1995, she and her second husband, Michael Sullivan, died in a fire in their apartment in Paris. Jules Eugène Louis Jouvet (24 December 1887 â€“ 16 August 1951) was a French actor, theatre director and filmmaker. Early life Jouvet was born in Crozon. He had a stutter as a young man and originally trained as a pharmacist. He received an advanced degree in pharmacy in 1913, though he never actually practiced, instead pursuing a career in theatre.:91 Career Jouvet was 'refused three times by the ''Conservatoire''' in Paris before being accepted to Jacques Copeau's Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier as a stage manager in 1913.:345 Copeau's training included a varied and demanding schedule, regular exercise for agility and stamina, and pressing his cast and crew to invent theatrical effects in a bare-bones space. Francinex
Francinex was a French film production and distribution company active from the 1930s to the 1960s. It had its roots in Italian production interests before the Second World War, who were able to continue during the conflict due to film agreements between Mussolini's Italy and Vichy France. The company was part of the Filmsonor-Cinedis group, but then passed under the direct control of the Italian producer Angelo Rizzoli in 1951. Philippe Lemaire (14 March 1927 – 15 March 2004) was a French actor. He appeared in more than ninety films between 1946 and 2004. Lemaire was married three times; Nicole Pinton (1949–1951) (divorced); Juliette Gréco from 1953 to 1956, had one daughter, Laurence-Marie Lemaire (1954–2016); and to Claude Bouton (1959–1980) (divorced). Henri Decoin
Henri Decoin (18 March 1890 Р4 July 1969) was a French film director and screenwriter, who directed more than 50 films between 1933 and 1964. He was also a swimmer who won the national title in 1911 and held the national record in the 500 m freestyle. He competed in the 400 m freestyle at the 1908 Summer Olympics and in the water polo tournament at the 1912 Summer Olympics. Biography During World War I, Decoin served as a pilot. After that he worked as a sports journalist for '' L'Auto'', ''L'Intransigeant'' and '' Paris-Soir''.
