Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden
The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) at Umeå University was established in 2007 as a joint venture between the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine, Heidelberg. Additional partners in the Nordic region are ''the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland'' (FIMM) at the University of Helsinki and ''the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway'' (NCMM) at the University of Oslo. ''The Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience'' (DANDRITE) at the Aarhus University has also joined the collaboration. A gene drive is a natural process and technology of genetic engineering that propagates a particular suite of genes throughout a population by altering the probability that a specific allele will be transmitted to offspring (instead of the Mendelian 50% probability). Emmanuelle Charpentier
Emmanuelle Marie Charpentier (; born 11 December 1968) is a French professor and researcher in microbiology, genetics, and biochemistry. As of 2015, she has been a director at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin. University Hospital of Umeå, in Swedish Norrlands universitetssjukhus (Nus), is the major hospital in northern Sweden, situated in Umeå. The hospital employs 5,600 people.
