Moldovan Music
Moldovan music is closely related to that of its neighbour and cultural kin, Romania. Moldovan folk is known for swift, complex rhythms (a characteristic shared with many Eastern European traditions), musical improvisation, syncopation and much melodic ornamentation. Pop, hip hop, rock and other modern genres have their own fans in Moldova as well. Modern pop stars include O-Zone, a Romanian and Moldovan band whose "Dragostea din tei" was a major 2004 European hit, guitarist and songwriter Vladimir Pogrebniuc, Natalia Barbu, who is well known in Germany, Romania and Ukraine, and Nelly Ciobanu. The band Flacai became well known in the 1970s across Moldova, turning their hometown of Cahul into an important center of music. Ballad
A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads derive from the medieval French ''chanson balladée'' or ''ballade'', which were originally "dance songs". Ballads were particularly characteristic of the popular poetry and song of Britain and Ireland from the Late Middle Ages until the 19th century. They were widely used across Europe, and later in Australia, North Africa, North America and South America. Ballads are often 13 lines with an ABABBCBC form, consisting of couplets (two lines) of rhymed verse, each of 14 syllables. Another common form is ABAB or ABCB repeated, in alternating eight and six syllable lines. Many ballads were written and sold as single sheet broadsides. The form was often used by poets and composers from the 18th century onwards to produce lyrical ballads. Pavel Stratan
Pavel Stratan (born 11 November 1970) is a Moldovan popular singer. His first album, '' Amintiri din copilărie'', was released in 2002. Early life Pavel Stratan was born to Dumitru and Polixena Stratan in the village of Nişcani, Călărași, Moldovan SSR on 11 November 1970. He first played the guitar on stage at school in 1977. He wrote his first lyrics in 1983, and in 1996 he had his first real show-business experience as a sleight-of-hand artist. He graduated from the Academy of Music, Theatre and Plastic Arts in Chişinău, Moldova. Career In 2002, he launched his first album, '' Amintiri din copilărie'' (''Childhood Memories''), in Moldova. Radu Sîrbu
Radu Sîrbu (also known as Radu Sârbu, RadU, Picasso and Radu Alexeevici Sîrbu (russian: Раду Алексеевич Сырбу, translit=Radu Alekseevich Syrbu; born 14 December 1978 in Peresecina) is a Moldovan singer and music producer. Andrei Rață (born 21 July 1992, in Chișinău), better known by his stage name Andrew Rayel, is a Moldovan producer and DJ. Initially releasing his music on Armada Music, Rayel founded the label "inHarmony Music" on 22 September 2017, where his role is label chief and head of A&R. Patricia Kopatchinskaja
Patricia Kopatchinskaja (born March 1977) is a Moldovan-Austrian-Swiss violinist. Biography Early life Kopatchinskaja was born in Chișinău, in the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic (now Moldova). She comes from a family of musicians. Her parents were both with the state folk ensemble of Moldova: her mother, Emilia Kopatchinskaja, was a violinist, and her father, Viktor Kopatchinsky, was a cimbalom player. Nicolae Glib is a Moldovan folk music singer born on May 10, 1949. He lives in the commune of Pepeni, Sîngerei district, Republic of Moldova. Childhood and adolescence Nicolae Glib started his artistic career at the age of 4 when he started dancing in a folk dance assembly.
