Hans-Georg Moldenhauer
Hans-Georg Moldenhauer (born 25 November 1941) is a German former football goalkeeper, playing for 1. FC Magdeburg and its predecessors. After his career he became a sports functionary in East German football and later in the unified Germany. Playing career Moldenhauer's career began in 1954 at BSG Motor Mitte Magdeburg, the football department of which formed a section of SC Aufbau and later became 1. FC Magdeburg during Moldenhauer's playing days. Aged 12, Moldenhauer played as a midfielder, but when the Handball section tried to persuade him to switch sports, teammates suggested he try his hand at goalkeeping, and Moldenhauer showed his real potential. After Moldenhauer had joined the juniors team of SC Aufbau, officials of the East German national team took notice of his consistently good performances, and on 27 March 1960 Moldenhauer played his first match for the East German youth national team. July 1929 Hans Moldenhauer (10 April 1901 – 29 December 1929) was Germany's first major international tennis player, competing in Wimbledon, the Davis Cup, and the French Open, and repeatedly winning the German national Championships both as a single player and in mixed doubles. He died at the age of just 28, when his motor car was hit by a tram in Berlin. Career Moldenhauer won back-to-back German National Championships in 1926 and 1927, and made his third successive final in 1928 where he lost to Daniel Prenn. He also won the Danish Championship Men's Singles in 1929. Moldenhauer played 22 times for Germany in the Davis Cup in 1927, 1928, and 1929. The Moldenhauer Archives at the Library of Congress is a collection of original music, unique documents and manuscripts within the Library of Congress, the national library of the United States. The Moldenhauer archives contains many thousands of unique original documents of historical significance. Part of the collection was bequeathed to The Moldenhauer Archives at Harvard University, located in the Houghton Library at Harvard University. Significance The archives were founded through a donation of documents and funds by the German collector, historian and musicologist Hans Moldenhauer, in honour of his wife Rosaleen Moldenhauer. The original bequest, consisting of over 3,500 documents, constituted the most comprehensive collection of original musical manuscripts ever accumulated. Joanne K. Moldenhauer (née Gatz, March 15, 1928 – February 14, 2016) was an American high school mathematics teacher and two-time winner of the Edyth May Sliffe Award. Education Moldenhauer's father served in the United States Army. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and attended Benson High School in Omaha. She graduated in 1949 from the Iowa State College, with a degree in physics, hoping to go on to a research career in physics was but blocked from that goal because there were few places for women in physics at the time. Career After graduating from Iowa State, Moldenhauer became a high school mathematics teacher in Omaha, and two years later became a student again at the University of Minnesota. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (german: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes) and its variants were the highest awards in the military of Nazi Germany during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded for a wide range of reasons and across all ranks, from a senior commander for skilled leadership of his troops in battle to a low-ranking soldier for a single act of extreme gallantry. A total of 7,321 awards were made between its first presentation on 30 September 1939 and its last bestowal on 17 June 1945.
