Mok Kwai-lan
Mok Kwai-lan (; October 15, 1892 – November 3, 1982) was the fourth spouse of Lingnan martial arts grandmaster Wong Fei-hung. History Early life Born on October 15, 1892, a native of Nanhai in Guangdong. When Mok was a child, she was adopted by her uncle and aunt who were childless. Later, Mok was secretly trained in Mok Ga by her uncle, despite herself being forbade by her aunt. She also learned Dit Da by him. By 1906, her Dit Da practice was completed and she became an accomplished Mok Ga martial artist. Folklore basis According to a common folklore regarding her encounter with the well-known Hung Ga practitioner and future spouse Wong Fei-Hung, in 1911, Wong Fei-Hung and his students were performing lion dance during the Dragon Boat Festival in Foshan, when one of his shoes accidentally slipped out and hit the face of the then 19-year old Mok who was observing the dance. Nanhai District
Nanhai District (), is a district of Foshan, Guangdong, China. Its government is the first to have developed e-government informatization at the county level in China. History Establishment of Nanhai is traditionally attributed two brothers carrying their father's bowls in 1271. They were fleeing south from the Mongols on a bamboo raft when a violent storm shipwrecked them and broke all the bowls. The brothers settled down there and the position of the wreck is commemorated by a shrine. This area was named Broken Bowls Point. On 15 February 1921, the eastern part of Nanhai County was ceded to the newly established City of Guangzhou which became part of what is now western part of Liwan. On 26 June 1951, Foshan Town (present Chancheng) was ceded to the newly established City of Foshan. Liu Xuan (gymnast)
Liu Xuan (; born August 12, 1979) is a former artistic gymnast from China. She competed in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games and won two Olympic medals, including gold on the balance beam in 2000. She was born in Changsha, Hunan. Gymnastics career Liu was coached by Guo Xinming and Zhang Zhen. She took up gymnastics with encouragement from her mother, who had to stop training when her gym closed during the Cultural Revolution. In fact, Liu's decision to continue training for another four years after a disappointing performance at the 1996 Olympics (where she failed to make the beam final because of a fall in the team competition) was partly to realize her mother's unfulfilled dream. Wan Chai is situated at the western part of the Wan Chai District on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong.
