Mohd Hayati Othman
Mohd Hayati bin Othman (born 12 June 1957) is a Malaysian politician and is the member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly for . He was a member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Pendang constituency in Kedah from 2004 to 2013, as a member of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). Hayati was elected to the Pendang seat in the 2004 election with a 50-vote margin. Two years earlier, he had been defeated in a by-election for the seat occasioned by the death of PAS's leader Fadzil Noor. The 2004 victory was a rare win for PAS in an election where it lost 20 of its 27 seats. Hayati then increased his majority in the 2008 election. He had contested the seat in a by-election in 2002, but was defeated by Othman Abdul of the United Malay National Organisation. The Pendang District is a town, a district and a parliamentary constituency in Kedah, Malaysia. The district is primarily covered with paddy fields with agriculture being its main economic activity. Pendang town is about 20 km from state capital Alor Setar. History Historically, Pendang was one of the largest breeding grounds for the elephants used to transport tributary goods to Thailand. Othman Abdul
Dato' Wira Othman bin Abdul (born 7 July 1963) is a Malaysian corporate and political figure. He was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the constituency of Pendang, Kedah. He held the seat for three times; from 1986 to 1999, from 2002 to 2004, and again from 2013 to 2018. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) in Malaysia's previous governing Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Othman was appointed as an Independent non-executive director for the KSK Group Berhad (previously known as Kurnia Asia Bhd) on 13 April 2004. 2013 Malaysian General Election
General elections were held in Malaysia on Sunday, 5 May 2013 to elect the members of the 13th Parliament. Voting took place in all 222 parliamentary constituencies, each electing one MP to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 505 state constituencies in 12 of the 13 states (excluding Sarawak) on the same day. The elections were the first since Najib Razak became Prime Minister in 2009.
