Mohamed Katir
Mohamed "Mo" Katir El Haouzi (born 17 February 1998) is a Spanish middle- and long-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Katir took silver in the 5000 metres at the 2022 European Championships. He is the European indoor record holder for the 3000 metres. Katir holds also three Spanish records (1500 m, 3000 m, 5000 m) and is a two-time national champion. Biography Born in Ksar el-Kebir, Morocco, Mohamed Katir was raised in Mula, Murcia, Spain since he was 5 years old. While Katir had previously run as Spaniard in youth competitions and won a Spanish national cross championship, he actually acquired the Spanish citizenship in October 2019, after a 4-year long process. 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. These issues caused the final total to stand at 179 nations (180 including the Athlete Refugee Team), the lowest number since Tokyo 1991. 5000 Metres
The 5000 metres or 5000-metre run is a common long-distance running event in track and field, approximately equivalent to or . It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over laps of a standard track. The same distance in road running is called a 5K run; referring to the distance in metres rather than kilometres serves to disambiguate the two events. The 5000 m has been present on the Olympic programme since 1912 for men and since 1996 for women. Prior to 1996, women had competed in an Olympic 3000 metres race since 1984. Golden Gala
Golden Gala is an annual track and field event normally held at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, Italy. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. Following the 2013 death of Italian sprinting legend Pietro Mennea, the organizers added his name to the title of the meet. The 2021 event was temporarily relocated to Florence. British Grand Prix (athletics)
The British Grand Prix, formerly known as the Birmingham Grand Prix, is an annual athletics meeting. Since 2010 it has been a part of the Diamond League series of track and field meets. In 2020 the event was due to be held at the Gateshead International Stadium but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The event returned to Gateshead in 2021. 2021 Diamond League
The 2021 Diamond League, also known as the 2021 Wanda Diamond League for sponsorship reasons, is the twelfth season of the Diamond League, annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The 2021 season sees an increase back to 32 Diamond Disciplines from the 24 originally planned for the 2020 Diamond League. The final will use a new format set to take place over two days on 8–9 September in one final meet, the Weltklasse Zürich, as had been planned to be introduced in 2020 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
