Mogens Frey
Mogens Frey Jensen (born 2 July 1941) is a retired Denmark, Danish amateur cyclist who competed successfully both on the road and on track. He won, along with Gunnar Asmussen, Per Lyngemark and Reno Olsen, a gold medal at the Cycling at the 1968 Summer Olympics, 1968 Summer Olympics in the Cycling at the 1968 Summer Olympics – Men's team pursuit, 4 km team pursuit and finished second Cycling at the 1968 Summer Olympics – Men's individual pursuit, individually. However, he is more famous for the way he won stage 9 in the 1970 Tour de France. Here, he defeated his own team captain Joaquim Agostinho. Agostinho was first over the finish line, but was immediately disqualified for putting his hand on Frey's handlebars, thus holding him back in the sprint. Glostrup
Glostrup is a Danish town in Region Hovedstaden, forming one of the western suburbs of Copenhagen. It is the administrative seat of Glostrup Municipality, with an estimated population of 22,357 . During the 20th century Glostrup developed from a small railroad town into a modern middle class suburb. The population reached a peak during the 1970s flight from central Copenhagen, but has since stabilized. While most of Copenhagens western suburbs are dominated by public housing projects, Glostrups mix is around the Danish average. A series of large companies, e.g. Grontmij's and Motorola's Danish sections, along with NKT Holding and Pandora are situated in the area. List Of Danish Tour De France Stage Winners
Fifteen cyclists from Denmark have won a total of 25 Tour de France stages as of the 2022 Tour de France. Bjarne Riis and Michael Rasmussen have each won four stages. Rolf Sørensen, Søren Kragh Andersen, Magnus Cort and Jonas Vingegaard have won two. Nine other Danes have won one stage. The first Danish stage winner was Mogens Frey in 1970. His team owner Jean de Gribaldy wanted the team captain Joaquim Agostinho to win. Agostinho actually crossed the line first but was disqualified for holding back Frey by grabbing his handlebar. Two Danes have won the general classification, Bjarne Riis in 1996 and Jonas Vingegaard in 2022. The women's race Tour de France Femmes started in 2022 where Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig won stage 3 from Reims to Épernay.
