Victor Eugene Heerman (August 27, 1893 – November 3, 1977) was an English-American film director, screenwriter, and film producer.Vazzana, Eugene Michael (2001). ''Silent Film Necrology.'' McFarland, After writing and directing short comedies for Mack Sennett, Heerman teamed with his wife Sarah Y. Victor Potel
Victor Potel (October 12, 1889 – March 8, 1947) was an American film character actor who began in the silent era and appeared in more than 430 films in his 38-year career. Career Victor Potel was born in Lafayette, Indiana in 1889, and his acting career goes back almost to the beginning of the commercial film industry in the United States. He made his first silent film in 1910, a comedy short filmed in Chicago by Essanay Film Manufacturing Company called ''A Dog on Business''. Potel continued to make films for Essanay, appearing in dozens of films every year, including most of the Broncho Billy series, and played a character called "Slippery Slim" in 80 movies. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library." Douglas Carter (actor)
Sir Douglas Julian Carter (5 August 1908 – 7 November 1988) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party. Biography Carter was born at Foxton in 1908, the son of Walter S. Carter. He received his education from Palmerston North and Waitaki Boys' High Schools. Afterwards, he was a farmer and active in various farming organisations. He was chairman of the New Zealand Pig Producers council, and was with the New Zealand Sharemilkers Employers Association, the Waikato Province Dairy Section of Federated Farmers, and was on the Waikato Primary Producers council. In 1936, Carter married Mavis Rose Miles. Carter represented the electorate from to 1975, when he retired. He was Minister of Agriculture under Keith Holyoake (1969–1972) and then John Marshall (1972), followed by Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (New Zealand) (1972). Snitz Edwards (born Edward Neumann, 1 January 1868 – 1 May 1937) was a stage and character actor of the early years of the silent film era into the 1930s. Biography Born into a Jewish household on New Year's Day 1868 in Budapest, Hungary (then part of the Austro-Hungarian empire), Edwards immigrated to the United States and became a successful Broadway stage actor during the early twentieth century. His first show was the musical comedy ''Little Red Riding Hood'', which opened on January 8, 1900. He often appeared in the first decade of the 20th century on Broadway in productions for such prominent stage directors as Arthur Hammerstein and Charles Frohman. He traveled with touring companies across the United States and in South America. On one trip, the company manager absconded with the box office receipts, leaving Snitz and the rest of the marooned troupers to find their way across Panama to catch a steamship back to New York City.
