Modern Choki Chokies (モダンチョキチョキズ) were a Japanese pop band from the early 1990s. The main singer was future soloist and actress Mari Hamada (濱田マリ), not to be confused with homonym singer Mari Hamada is a Japanese heavy metal and pop rock singer. is a Japanese singer and actress who starred in numerous Japanese films and Japanese television dramas. and released two solo albums and solo singles in the 1990s, after being part of the Japanese band " Modern Choki Chokies". is a Japanese heavy metal and pop rock singer. Since her debut in 1983, Hamada has been known as the "Heavy Metal Queen" of Japan. Throughout her career, she has released 25 singles and 23 studio albums. Biography Early history Mari Hamada started singing when she joined a choir at elementary school and participated in recording TV commercial jingles while in junior high. While at Musashigaoka High School, she formed a punk rock band called "Mari Band".
