Mocorito
Mocorito (meaning "place of the dead") is a small city and its surrounding municipality in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. The city reported 5,426 inhabitants in the 2010 census. History In 1531, with the entry of the conquistador Nuño de Guzmán to northwest Mexico and the founding of the town of San Miguel de Navito, the geographical boundaries of the province of Culiacan were set, subject to the governorship of Nueva Galicia. In 1532, Sebastián de Évora reached the Mocorito valley and called his name, the people and the river, leaving as encomendero dependent as mayor of the province of Culiacan, from that year was defined between the river towards Évora North and Elota River in the south. Mocorito Municipality
Municipality of Mocorito is a municipality in the Mexican state of Sinaloa in northwestern Mexico. It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Sinaloa, to the south by Navolato, to the southeast by Culiacán, to the east by Badiraguato and to the west with Salvador Alvarado and Angostura. It encompasses a total of 2,800.6 km² and represents 4.9% of the territory of Sinaloa. According to the 2020 census it had a population of 40,358, compromising 270 total localities. Major localities include Pericos, Mocorito, and Caimanero. Flora and Fauna The three climatic regions that make up Sinaloa can be seen in Mocorito. Tropical savanna in the west, mountainous in the east, and a transitional zone in the central region. Each has its own vegetation. Los Tigres Del Norte
Los Tigres del Norte (English: ''The Tigers of the North'') are a norteño band from San Jose, California. Originally founded in Mocorito, Sinaloa, Mexico, with sales of 60 million albums, the band is one of the most recognized groups in the genre, due to its long history and its successes within the Mexican community in the diaspora. The band is famous for its political corridos, some of which have been censored, even in its own country. The band is the only Mexican group to win 6 Grammy awards and 12 Latin Grammys. In addition, the band has made 40 films alongside the Almada brothers (Mario and Fernando) among other well-known Mexican actors. The band's style is based on regional music of Mexico, using mainly instruments such as the electric bass (or double bass), accordion, bass, drums, and sometimes other percussion instruments. Nuño De Guzmán
Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán (c. 14901558) was a Spanish conquistador and colonial administrator in New Spain. He was the governor of the province of Pánuco from 1525 to 1533 and of Nueva Galicia from 1529 to 1534, and president of the first Royal Audiencia of Mexico – the high court that governed New Spain – from 1528 to 1530. He founded several cities in Northwestern Mexico, including Guadalajara. Originally a bodyguard of Charles I of Spain, he was sent to Mexico to counterbalance the influence of the leader of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, Hernán Cortés, since the King worried he was becoming too powerful. As Governor of Pánuco, Guzmán cracked down hard on the supporters of Cortés, stripping him and his supporters of property and rights. Nuevo Reino de Galicia (''New Kingdom of Galicia'', gl, Reino de Nova Galicia) or simply Nueva Galicia (''New Galicia'', ''Nova Galicia'') was an autonomous kingdom of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. It was named after Galicia in Spain. Nueva Galicia's territory became the present-day Mexican states of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit and Zacatecas.
