Mocean Dance
Mocean Worker (pronounced "motion worker") is the recording alias of jazz musician and producer Adam Dorn. Biography Philadelphia native Adam Dorn is the son of renowned jazz and R'n'B producer Joel Dorn. He grew up around the jazz and R&B discs his father produced for Atlantic Records in the '60s and '70s. As a 15-year-old, he sent a fan letter to bassist Marcus Miller. When Miller responded, inviting Dorn to come by the studio, one visit turned into three years hanging around artists David Sanborn, Luther Vandross and Miles Davis. Dorn is a bass player and vocalist. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Dorn adopted the Mocean Worker moniker as a DJ of drum 'n' bass music. The project came about almost by accident, the results of a series of half-serious recording sessions. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. ''Enter the Mowo!'' is a 2004 album by Mocean Worker. The album received positive reviews and includes new recordings and samples of several jazz musicians with electronic backing. Mocean Worker went on tour to support the effort in 2005. Reception Jason MacNeil of PopMatters gave the album a positive review, calling the mixture of artists and styles a "great success", while criticizing a few ideas on the release as incomplete. In ''Exclaim!'', Joshua Ostroff wrote that Mocean Worker lived up to his personal legacy of jazz performance via his father and top billing alongside jazz greats sampled on this album. Nublu Club
The Nublu Club is a club in East Village, Manhattan, New York, that was opened in 2002 by Swedish-Turkish saxophonist Ilhan Ersahin. On its 10th anniversary the club's namesake festival presented what it calls the Nublu Sound, a combination of jazz, African, South American, Caribbean, electronic, and dance music. Among the bands associated with Nublu are The Brazilian Girls, Forro in the Dark, Love Trio, and Wax Poetic. Swing music is a style of jazz that developed in the United States during the late 1920s and early 1930s. It became nationally popular from the mid-1930s.
